I am considering buying the lens with the 1.4 extender. I have a Canon 5D iv and 1DX ii. Has anyone had any problems with this combo?

I recommend getting the Sport model if you plan on using the TC. The Contemporary tends to hunt a lot with the TC attached, at least it does on the 5D4

I was considering the Sport - I should have said that initially. Thank you!

I have the Sport and the Sigma matching teleconverter. I use the lens and converter on my 5DIV and 80D quite often and have never had a problem.

Is it sharp?

I have the sport version and the 1.4 and have used both. I am very disappointed in the sharpness of the teleconverter. I feel it was $300 wasted. I get much better quality with the sport and a 7DII which pumps the lens up to 860mm.

I have the 150-600 Contemporary & the TC-1401 on a Canon 6d2 and 7d2. No issues with either combination. Best at f8.

James,
Don't you mean 960mm? (1.6 crop x 600)

Not really changing the lens focal length or resolution, simply cropping the field-of-view!

I have read reviews from professional wildlife photographers who say that for the money, the Contemporary version is just as good. True?
