Hi,
Just wondering if such a thing exists .
A Hot shoe to hot show adapter .. so one can use an old
film camera flash on Digital Camera .

Something that would attenuate the flash voltage so as not to cause damage to camera .
I under stand that it would be manual only .. but thats ok ..

Have looked on Ebay .. Nothing there

Thanks

It's called the safesync.

It's up to you to determine if the old flash is worth more or less than the $40 for the adapter.

A company called WEIN makes that adapter you are looking for. Call your favorite Dealer like B&H or Adorama and they will fix you up. I used one on my Nikon Equipment.

I used my Wein Safe Sync on my Canon EOS 50D. Used an old Canon flash and several Vivitar high voltage flashes with safety. AND it has a PC socket, too. They also have a "Peanut slave" which is an optical slave trigger for multi off camera set up.

This link is to another model made by Paramount Cords. The Safe-Synch is well recommended as well. These adapters will protect the camera's circuitry but there is no intergration with ant TTL exposure modes. Your older flash will synchronize at within the prescribed shutter speeds and will work in manual or auto-flash modes. Which make and model flash do you have?

That looked familiar, so I check my Quicken and found that I bought one with a sync cord in 2012 for $65.

UK Distributer for Safe-Synch:

Advertised at £67.

If your old strobe is an upscale powerful model it might pay off to adapt it to your present camera. Otherwise, a better investment would be in a current speedlight from Godox or Yonguno with all the dedicated features.

tnx , though I dont understand .. The Item above mentions it is suitable for certain cameras .
But i would have thought a Hot shoe with a center spot would be ok on any camera .

It should be since it only has a center pin (which is the one that triggers the unit). The additional pins on a dedicated unit transfer other information ( such as exposure) from a flash to the camera and vice versa. Thus the flash has to be used manually as in pre TTL days. I don't like the fact that this unit requires a battery, the Wein unit does not...EDIT, It may not work on Sony/Minolta units though since their hot shoe is different.
