Good Morning
Purchased a used 1dx about 1 year ago worked great until thid week when i encountered an auto focus problem. When pressing the shutter button it would not hold focus and would blur the photo. Any suggestions or repair suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Does it misbehave with all lenses or just one lens. Is it possibly a lens problem rather than a camera problem? Have you cleaned lens to camera contacts? That may clear up the problem.

Does the lens that you are using have distance setting for focus, 1.2m-oo/2.5m-oo or are you using spot focus and trying to focus on a very small subject?

It is an incredible camera body. It is also very complicated. Mine froze, a fried circuit board. Canon got it back to me in about a week. As a suggestion you might try to re-set all factory settings and see it that helps. Go through your menus and look for anything related to AF, there are many items here. Clean all the contacts and re-seat the lens. Canon's tech rep is going to ask if you tried any of these ideas. They should be your next move. Good luck.

When i noticed the focus issues i was using a sigma 150-600. I also noticed it with my 70-200 2.8. Thanks for the reply

Don, I use a liquid designed to clean negatives. I use a chamber cleaning swab with a few drops of the solution and I clean the contacts in the camera and also the ones on the lens. I finish up by cleaning the flat mounting surfaces of both. I got a message on the back of my 1DXMK2 that said to clean the contacts, it had stopped focusing.

That's the wrong way. Two thing wrong with that. First the eraser can take off the gold platting on the contacts and second you sure don't want any rubber from the eraser dropping down into the lens, chamber box, or worse fall onto the sensor.

always check the lens to see if AF is on. I've made that mistake. Also give back button focus a shot. See what you think.
