How do I download Z7 images (QXD card) to an iPad. When I try direct from the camera it says not enough power, same message when I used the card reader with the appropriate connections.

Are they NEF or JPEG images?

Do you keep a real time backup on the 850's SD slot? Because Apple is really picky about what you can connect to the Lightning port, and probably the XQD card reader (Sony?) pulls too much juice to run. Which is why you cannot connect a portable HD to an iPad.

I have a LaCie DJI Boss portable drive where I backup all RAW images from he 850 daily and use their software to view via the Lightning connection for editing on Adobe Lightroom Mobile.

You need a Lightning to USB3 adapter available from Apple or most major electronic stores ($40.00)

As I mentioned I’m using a Z7 that does not have an SD slot. Only a QXD card.

I tried the lightning connector mentioned and got the same message. Not enough power. I now believe that WiFi is the solution.

Thanks

Wifi and Bluetooth will work. You just need to be a little patient. Try reformatting your card and taking some .jpgs only. Then try the direct download. What iPad are you using? (should be the first ?)

I just imported NEF images on an XQD card directly to an iPad Pro with a USB-C port. I put the XQD card into a Sony QDA-SB1 XQD card reader. Connected it to the iPad Pro with an USB-C/USB 3.0 adapter.
If your iPad has a lightning port, you'd need a Lightning/USB 3.0 adapter.

It also worked with a Sony model MRW-E80 XQD card reader and a different USB adapter.

This has a Lightning connector. Ref my previous post, you'd need the corresponding USB-3/Lighting Adapter to connect the XQD card reader to your iPad.

Yes my iPad has a lightning port so I assume I can use the adapter sold by Apple. Thanks for your help.

Yes. You can get cheaper USB adapters elsewhere. Use the Sony XQD reader.

I connected the Sony card reader to the lightning to USB 3 Adapter and had the power cord also connected to the adapter and a message came up “cannot use device” “connected device requires too much power “. The device is a QXD 120 GB card.
