Will the prolific expansionism of the MILCs - eventually, kill off the DSLR?

Think about it, folks … ALL Fuji APS-C models, ALL MFT models, ALL Sony FF models, and half of their APS-C models, and now - two FF models from each - Nikon, and Canon … is the road ahead, pretty clear, now?

Bebu … I guess - what I mean by that - is the mirrored camera, will cease to exist …

Not sure I like that picture, but … let's say … it seems to be in the works - doesn't it?

NO NOISE of a Mirror Slap, no waiting to go onto the next … more advanced electronics, smaller size ..

Shall I go on?

I think it will get to the point almost. There are still film cameras made today so. But people would still use them and I will still be using them.

I was using my DSLR all day today in live view doing macro stacks. What mirror slap? Once initial critical focus is achieved, I put the mirror out of the way. What "waiting to go onto the next?" I was shooting in burst mode.

Well, SUV's are "killing off" sedans, auto transmissions are "killing off" manual, LED light bulbs are "killing off" incandescants, etc., so we may just be witnessing the trend in current camera technology where one technology is beginning to overtake another, as mirrorless cameras continue to improve. (But remember, digital has yet to "kill off" film...)

Chris, since you like to look up stuff and make lists, how about a list of all the other threads on the same topic?

That might be interesting.

Mike … you've been stacking … most folks in general use photography - will experience delays …

Buffers are limited, you know?

Mirrorless offers a more convenient, and, eventually - much faster - way to shoot …

What has your experience been when using mirrorless cameras?

Film - in the miniature world, at least - is a dead form …

ANY current DSLR can outclass any 35mm Film Camera ….

So few, today - even bother, buying 35mm film, anymore, El …

BUT, in the MF & LF world - film will rule for quite some time - until reasonably priced dig cams surpass em!

If you mean - of those cited, Richard - none … but, I DO have a dozen bridges - which are mirrorless, too!

Focus bracketing in burst mode is pretty demanding. I was not experiencing delays. Why would the casual user experience delays? Mirror-less cameras don't write to the card faster necessarily, do they?

Smartphones are the most convenient way to shoot, don't you think?

I don't experience any delays with my Canon 1DIV and doubt I will when I buy the 1DXII

I have 6 DSLRs and 9 MILCs and I will be using both formats until I take the eternal dirt nap.
I think it will be years before DSLRs are gone the way of DoDo birds.
As others have said, people are still using SLRs. And I still listen to vinyl albums from my collection of about 1000 of them, and cassette tapes that I have over 200 of.

I wouldn't know, Mike … as I don't have one …

Telephones are for talking on - not for shooting pictures. I use cameras to shoot pictures - NOT phones!!!
