Red Intensifier Filter

Hi. Just joined this group as I want to become more familiar with astro photography. Read somewhere that one should use a red intensifier filter when shooting star photo's. Wondering if anyone uses this filter and have you noticed an enhancement to your image. Thx in advance for your comments.

Don't know about the stars but B+W markets a filter known as a "red enhancer" filter that makes fall colors pop. Been around for many years.

I have an intensifier filter I bought for fall colors, never thought to use it on Astro. Will give it a shot next time I have a chance. Might be a while though, clear skies can be rare in Michigan.

Clear skies seem to be rare anywhereigan.
Not just in Michigan...

Try anything, poprock.
That's what I do. I don't care, I just give it a go.

I use an Ha7NM filter for some of my imaging of deep space objects with my telescope.
Radically changes the image because it only lets a narrow band of light through.
Other filters can help with light pollution. I use one regularly. (Subjective to diecent sky conditions.

You probably won't thank me when you see the price of those things.
Craig suggested the Ha7nm to me.
It can cut out about everything but the 7 nm band. Great for red nebula.
Which is what I like to image DOS nebula...
Are you using it with an Astro Camera?

No. I was using it for taking pictures of star trails and the Milky Way using the Nikon d500
