When people ask me why

I live and work 20 miles from a grocery store, from a doctor and from any police response should there be an emergency. I teach in a rural school, teaching 5 different classes, driving buses, coaching several sports, often at the same time, and work 80 hour weeks frequently. People often ask why and I usually have to narrate an answer but today I’ll let an image tell the story. The following is a cell phone shot of the nine relay teams about to compete in the Texas state 1A mile relay final......

Praying together. Great kids all.

Yes, being there for and with the kids is what it is about. Teachers know what it means, educators just collect a pay check.

I didn't have the same situation but here it is 12 years since I retired and I still think "that would make a good lesson" when browsing books or videos and miss being with students teaching lessons. The only other thing I miss is the fellowship of other teachers.

I too support such a dedicated teacher. I had several in high school and appreciate them no more than ever. My daughter is currently studying to be a music teacher.l in college. She currently plays seven, yes seven musical instruments. My son is studying to be a Physics teacher. Holy Smokes. He can tell you the temperature change of one side of a table after you put down a hot cup of coffee.

Thanks for you 'Teaching Service.' Teaching is actually the most important profession we have. When you think that every child's life is touched by a teacher for 12-13 years and more with college, teaching is huge.
