Wondering what you all thought and if you would, post your work and let me know what you did. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your father, but glad he's out of the hospital and hope he keeps improving.

I had a little different response to your experiment. I had a sense that you'd taken a bag of color and dumped it on the ground, with some of it congealing into marbles while some of it was still "runny". So I boosted the colors a little bit and played with contrast and saturation, coming up with a somewhat more overstated version of your #3.

I like this, Jb. You are right. I did just dump several colorful marbles that I thought would stand out and try to capture the action blur. Boosting the color is definitely a must. I took MANY shots trying to accomplish trying to get blur action. Quite tedious trying to get just the nanosecond that the striker hit the group. Some images I used "liquify" and "motion blur" to get the effect and then copied/pasted it into another image. I need to find a cleaner, harder ground to make a new circle and reshoot. Thank you for your interest and responding. I truly appreciate it!

I’ve been watching this thread with interest, it’s an intriguing thought puzzle.
What about mounting camera on tripod and using 1/4 second ss w/rear curtain sync and flash.
Then experiment with flash power and aperture to control brightness of ambient and flash illumination.
(I skimmed through the thread and didn’t see this yet) hopefully this would give you “ghost” trails and then sharp images of marbles.
Drive on!

It will take time and experimentation. How far up into Michigan are you? A game of Marbles could be fun?
Someone suggested a trigger thing like you use to capture lightning. I didn't want to put that much money into this.

No trigger or money needed, just a flash and set camera to long exposure with flash firing just before shutter closes. A wide aperture would show moving marbles and flash would freeze an instant of time in place. Adjusting the two and experimenting would let you choose brightness balance of each. Might be a big pain but you never know?
I’ve long since lost all my marbles!
