First of all I only became aware of the rumored price increase from an email I received that was hawking a competitive product. Maybe the doubling of the cost is true; but maybe it is not.

Regardless, if you have the patience and a subscription that will soon expire:
Contact Adobe on line help. They will reassure you that there is no price increase anticipated. This is to get you to go away, but the customer representatives (somewhere outside of the U.S.A.) are not privy to this sort of information. Then they will offer to cancel and reinstate your subscription at the current rate; thereby guaranteeing no price increase until it is time for the future automatic renewal. At this point, if you remind them that cancellation will result in "?" months of loss of service, they will offer credit for the time lost. Eventually, they will seamlessly renew your agreement for another year from the date you contact them, at the price you are currently paying.

My subscription was to renew this July. While Adobe would not simply extend it, they did offer the process I describe and I am now set until May of 2020 at the $20/month cost. I had to prepay (as I did when I originally took out the subscription) but I am now locked in. To be honest, I would have paid the increase if it had been announced prior to my original renewal date

This has been posted before. And Adobe responded that it is BS. It sounded like their sign-up page was just poorly worded and with poorly placed links after a brief redesign and that it should have been corrected by now.

But, hay, I'm still using CS6.

Let me be the first to register concern about your selection of products. The table below is annotated from link: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography/compare-plans.html?promoid=952G4WLC&mv=other

As shown, there are multiple groupings of software and cloud-based file storage. The individual photographer typically needs only the (unchanged) $9.99 plan to work from their desktop / laptop computer.

Adobe caused some confusion last week. They were trying to emphasis their Photography plan that features 1 TB of cloud storage with the two Lightrooms and Photoshop at $20 a month. The similar $10 plan, limited to only 20GB of cloud storage remains available at $10 per month. Some interpreted it to mean a price increase without realizing that it was the same two plans but with a different marketing focus.

In other words, Adobe was (awkwardly) trying to invite their customers to take advantage of the additional functionality that comes with more cloud storage.

This current link shows all the plans and has both the $10 and $20 versions: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

If one prefers buying a year's worth at once, retailers like B&H will sell redemption code that, when entered into your account at Adobe, will add an additional 12 months.

Yes this is correct, there were price increases if you bought the increased storage plan, so NOT BS.

This is a marketing test. Adobe rumors a price increase (by selective advertising) and sits back to see how much noise is generated. This is a technique to gauge the elasticity of the produce price. If the elasticity is high, a large price rise will result in a large drop in sales. By estimating the elasticity they can get some idea of just how much they can increase the price and not drop sales beyond a point that will preserve income.

Basically they want (new price/old price)x(new sales rate/old sales rate) to be greater than or equal to 1.0.

Instead of raising the price by a factor of 2, they could raise it in two separated raises of 40%, or 3 separated raises of 25%.

You rarely see a manufacturer doubling the price in one shot (except maybe in the pharmaceutical field).

Please explain to us how when you order additional storage, and have to pay for it, there is a price increase rather than it being an additional charge.

Ask Adobe that question, not me. It was their plans' prices they tried to increase.

The $20 price was for a new plan using more cloud storage. The old plan hasn't changed. Ergo there was no price "increase"

My mistake. You can save your concern I was and continue to be subscribed to the $10/month package. Possibly a typo on my part, or another brain fart.

Wow another one, after all this time. This has been discussed to death, Adobe is NOT increasing the price! If you get an email from Adobe, read it carefully, so you get the "full picture"!

No price increase in the $9.99 program. You just paid for increased storage capacity in the cloud which you may or may not need.
