Many folks have asked me where they can buy a long lens carrying handle I have talked about here. Many have said it is very expensive. I found the site where you can get the handle for $19.00 plus $12.00 shipping to US. You can get a 5% discount using the code proaim5. You can also check out as a guest and pay using paypal. Hope this helps. I have also included a photo of my handle in case you have not seen it. I use it on my Nikon 200-500 and 500 5.6, but can be used on any telephoto tripod collar. Go to the following web site.

For those who prefer multitaskers, I've found that a good time so mounting plate also doubles for a handle. I have them on all my larger lenses and they do work quite well. One advantage over a separate handle is, you don't have to remove then to use a tripod.

The handle shown attaches to the tripod foot.

I just carry the lens/camera by the tripod foot and don't need the handle.

That handle does not look comfortable to hold being plastic.

I'm curious; what does that mean, being plastic?

Today's tripod feet seem like they are designed to be a carry handle without any attachments.

Although I usually switch to RRS, the last two lenses I got from Nikon had cushioned grips built into the tripod foot.

It is metal.

Hard Plastic. Not soft cushioned plastic.

I can see where this would work well when:

You are only ALWAYS hand holding and never using the collar for what it was designed for - and had PLENTY of room in your carry case/bag.

Those are available, but at a higher cost. The least expensive rubber lined one I have seen is $69.00.

the advantage to the all metal one is accessories can be added using the threaded holds provided in the handle.

The handle is easily detachable, making it easy to carry in your case/bag.

It is not plastic, nor is it soft cushioned plastic, it is metal construction with two types of threaded holes to hold a variety of accessories.

The tripod foot of the Nikon 200-500 does not raise up enough from the lens (in my opinion) to allow it to be easily carried by that foot. The handle helps.

The tripod foot on my Nikon 200-500 does not extend far enough from the lens for me to easily carry it as a handle. That is why I purchased the handle.
