As many know, Adobe is apparently testing the waters as to how much the market will bear for its photography plan. There's been a couple of posts on UHH about it. Here's an article describing what's apparently going on. If you ask me, Adobe is treating its customers pretty shabbily.

I gave up Adobe products and have been using Corel products for a while now.
Corel products do everything I need to do with my images. I am not a professional and do not need all the things that Adobe products can do. With Corel you don't need to pay ongoing fees for a subscription,
only have to buy the license once. You can opt in for upgrades if you want to, but not necessary.

My Adobe was going to renew the next day, so I called this number 1-800-585-0774. I had to talked with a couple of different agents and listen to several minutes of music, but I was assured, since I made the call and I paid for a year's renewal, I would not have to pay the $20.00/month.

If you treat it as an annuity, the 'worth' of the software is:

$20*12/0.025 = $9600, assuming the interest rate is 2.5%; is the software worth this value?

I have the $10 Photography plan, but also have LR5.7.1, PS CS5 and CS6. When it get to the place where they discontinue my $10/month plan, I'll drop my subscription and continue using LR5.7.1, PS CS5 and CS6.
I don't use any of the cloud storage anyway.

If you use the CC version of LR won't you have a newer version of your catalog than 5.7? And can you go back to/use 5.7 with the newer catalog? If not, is it easy to re-create a 5.7 catalog from whatever catalog the CC version has created?

If so, I'll seriously consider the subscription model and just keep my LR 6.14 in reserve for when the subscription becomes unaffordable (to me.)

Real simple. Raise the price and we're out of there. We can find alternatives that meet our needs.

I have Affinity Photo & CS6. When CS6 stops working (some future OS update) I’ll only use Affinity.

Sorry Dik, I don't see how this has anything to with the value of the software other than the interest earned on $9600 @ 2.5% is $240 which is the annual cost of the software.

"Amen" to ecobin! Only difference here is my CS6 has already stopped working. I ditched it! I much prefer Affinity Photo.

Phil, I am curious as to why your CS6 stopped working. I am still running CS6 with no problems.

Sorry. It stopped working because I WANTED it to stop. I just have it parked and doubt very much if I'll use it again. Nothing really wrong with the app, but Adobe sucks to the max!

Here is an article from Dave Cross, The Photoshop Guy.

I'm sharing the following from Dave Cross and he makes a point that this may or may not be true!

Mis-information is out there!

You may have seen articles and discussions recently on social media about Adobe doubling the price of the photography plan on Creative Cloud. There were (are?) a lot of very upset people, but it was unfounded as the information in the articles was, in my opinion, misleading.

The bottom line is, the price is not increasing.

The articles said things like "the $9.99 plan is no longer available on the web site" and "it appears that Adobe is set to double their prices". This was misleading as the $9.99 plan remained available while they "tested" some plans with more cloud storage.

Here's what I was told by one of my contacts at Adobe (quoting from an email):

Q: I see Creative Cloud Photography Plan (20GB) is not available on Adobe.com. What is happening?
A: From time to time, we run tests on Adobe.com which cover a range of items, including plan options that may or may not be presented to all visitors to Adobe.com. We are currently running a number of tests on Adobe.com.

Q: Is this plan still available for purchase?
A: Yes, the plan is still available for purchase from Adobe during this test.

Q: How does one buy this plan?
A: The plan can be purchased at http://www.adobe.com/go/photo18sptst, via phone at 1-800-585-0774 or via major retailers.

Q: Will Creative Cloud Photography Plan (20GB) be available into the future?
A: We don’t comment on future products or plans.

That's the official word. Adobe never "officially" comments about future plans since they are a public traded company. However I was told by people from the Photoshop team - and there was at least one Facebook comment that said the same thing - that there are no plans to increase the pricing for the Creative Cloud Photography Plan ($9.99/month).

Of course that could change down the road. If you ask me, I think it's unlikely after the outcry caused by these articles. Having said that, new Creative Cloud customers may be priced differently than renewing customers? (That's me speculating again)

I'm not always the biggest fan of some of the decisions made by Adobe, and this "testing" certainly doesn't seem like the brightest idea they've ever had. But I do feel that people were jumping to conclusions without all the facts at hand.

Hopefully this helps to clarify the situation.
Have a great rest-of-the-weekend.

Nothing like click bait, courtesy of Peta Pixel. I just went to two different places on adobe.com and easily found the $9.99 plan with PS and LR. This seems to be much adieu about nothing. By the way, even at $240 a year, that would still be way cheaper than developing film over a year's time.
