Infrared Conversion - looking for info...
I have a Canon 6D I'd like to have converted to infrared. Does anyone have any reliable info on a good place to have it done and how much it will cost?

I had my D70 converted in the early yrs by LifePixel. I think it cost me around $300. At the time there was only one choice of "color" temp and you had to have a dedicated lens that was calibrated to the camera.
Now days there are son many choices I'M like a dog in a forest of fire plugs.

Agree about LifePixel. I just got my second camera converted by them, and have been very happy with their service. Also, their web site is a great resource for IR photography information.
Yes, Life Pixel is a great IR company and their website is a fount of practical information
Thank you all for replying and for the info. I looked over the website and it is a treasure trove of infrared information. Now I have another decision to make and I'd appreciate external input. A little background...
My daughter uses my 6D quite often for her family photography business she's been working part time for a couple years now. She's pretty good at it and hopes to turn it into something more than it is today. She currently books around two jobs a week, usually on weekends. Currently the only DSLR she owns is a EOS 80D. I've also let her use my 5DSr and 5DmkIV on occasion but she mostly uses the 6D. I've told her she really needs to have the business buy it's own full frame DSLR or MILC, but, because of lenses it has to be Canon.
Here are my options. I take back the 6D, that I paid $1700 for new, and get it converted, or I spend the $1650 for a new converted 6DII. I'd really like my daughter to follow through on more of the things we've discussed about her fledgling business but she also works a full time job and is raising a 5 year old and a two year old, and the baby daddy isn't all that helpful with raising the kids. He'd rather spend his awake non working time playing online multiplayer games. (Loser)
I can afford the new converted camera, that's not an issue and her business is capable of purchasing a newer camera.
So, do I step up and help grow her business or take back what's rightfully mine and have the business buy a new camera?
LifePixel and KolarVision are the two best know conversion services. Both are good. Check their websites.

Thank you, much appreciated...
whoever... others can answer. I would, however, suggest that the conversion be a "full spectra" allowing you to add the nm filters to fit your mood or situation. Allowing some visible light to be in your photo adds a whole new mood vs the old standby of B&W of 720nm or greater.
If your daughter is in agreement I would consider taking a share in the business and help buying the equipment needed, as your daughter appears to be somewhat constrained by her other commitments.
You could then retire from the business when she is able to devote more time to it.
Isaac Szabo converted three cameras for me. He's good, and he's reasonable.

There are 2 places i’ve Used lifepixel.com and Kolarivision.com. A lot of people I know are using Kolarivision. Before doing anything read their websites. There can be problems with white balance.
You could buy a used camera from a reputable store like KEH.
I used Isaac Szabo to convert my Nikon D5200, fair price and great service He is in an area of Florida that does not have mail delivery. The package is sent to General delivery and he then picks it up
LifeLixel As mentioned that their website is an incredible source of infrared information

Thanks...I was also interested in who does these conversions as I would love to experiment in this medium myself. Thanks for raising the topic.
