I remember checking a set of plans where a person would have to stand on the WC in order to close the door once in the bathroom and again to open the door to get out.
Always good to measure....and think. I think the master carpenter should have reversed the swing of the door, even if it meant re-framing the opening.
It still would have hit the toilet. And unless the water closet was pretty big, he'd still have to squeeze in around the door to pee. Two words: Pocket door.
