Price of Canon 6D vs 6D MK II

I went to the Canon store and found the price of the 6D (Body Only) to be $1699 and the price of the 6D MK II to be $1299. Speculation aside, can anybody give me a logical reason why the 6D should cost more than the 6D MK II at the Canon store?

I just checked and I think you misread.
The 6DII body only is $1299 and the 6DII with 24-104 lens is $1699 - they no longer sell the 6D new
Under refurbished they have the 6D body for $899.20 and the 6DII body only for $1169.20

I bought the 6DMkII 6 months ago with the battery grip and extras from B&H for $1299. Killer deal and the camera is awesome.

I'm responding a second time. This is the web page that I was viewing. Notice that it is for the 6D. Also, notice that it is pictured with the lens but there is a note below the price that states the lens is not included.

Where did you get that link?
Either the source was way out of date or someone screwed up in posting links to Canon products.

This is from the year the 6D was introduced - 2012. I bought mine in Dec 2013 and that was the store page at the time.

I just did an experiment I googled Canon USA - I got several links to the Canon store when I followed the second one it had the 6D listed and the link led to this page.
But when I put the filter "Tools > Time > Past Year" the result that led to that page disappeared and only the current store link was left. So the search engine was pulling up old pages/links from the archives - "Once it is on the net it never disappears."

If you look at the "Where to buy" link it indicates that Canon is "out of stock". It shows an external web site offering it for $1,999.00. When you click on the link it takes you to an on line store offering the 6D MKII.

The 6D is no longer available new.

As of 5-1-2019 there are 5 Canon 6D's available at 33st. camera through Amazon at 1099.00. this price includes 2 SD cards. I bought my 6D a month ago for 999.95 at this same site and am FULLY satisfied with service and warrantee. You better hurry if you want one... it will be a classic someday IMHO.

Apparently the 6D is no longer stocked by Canon but can still be bought new at dealers that have some left in stock. The OP is correct about the price difference though:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/list/cameras/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras

If you can buy the 6DII for $400 less I don't know how they expect to sell the remaining 6D's, even though it is an excellent camera. The price reduction is across the board, and no doubt temporary, and since it is not Canon actually selling the 6D anymore that probably accounts for the difference.

Are any of the places that still have 6D's offering them for 1699.00?
As I pointed out, on the Canon site, the link to the store listed as offering the 6D for $1699 is actually selling the 6D MKII.
I believe, an I could be wrong here, the MSRP for the 6D was $1699.00.
The Canon Store no longer sells new EOS 6D's.
If you go by the links on the left side of the pages, instead of searching for EOS 6D, the 6D will not even show up. Only current models show up.

In the link I provided if you click on the 6D and then go to the tab that tells you where you can buy it you will see that it is no longer available at the Canon store. Not surprising since it is no longer produced and their stock has apparently run out. It also shows one dealer store that apparently still has stock and the price is $1699. The $1299 price for the 6DII is temporary. If you are looking for a 6D then I would jump at a 6DII for that price. The dealer price for the 6D hasn't changed most likely because it was sold to that dealer under a different price arrangement and they would lose money if sold at a lower price. Right now the 6DII is the far better deal. When the price reduction ends, which could be any time, the 6D will once again have the better price, where available. Whether or not it will be the best deal in the end will depend on just what you are looking for.

First time I went FF, it was the 6D MKII. Purchased from B&H for $1299 which included battery grip, 3rd party battery, SD card, camera bag and other goodies too.

I am very happy with the 6D MKII and there is no comparison in quality between the 6D MKII and the crop 7D MKII. Maybe just me but I enjoy shooting sports with the 6D MKII inside poorly lit ice arenas. I use the 6D MKII in low light and the 7D MKII for football in daylight. Both cameras are good for me. I use L glass with these cameras.

Canon EOS 1Dx Mk. III, Brooklyn? …. When did THAT happen? Thought the current Pro body was the M2!
