I’m sorry he lost me at Green tea and digestive health. I thought the video was about cameras.
So without watching it in the UHH tradition I will offer my opinion.
I think the title of your post is correct. Canicon waited far too long before joining the mirrorless fray and they lost market share because of they waited. However they have joined now, so it will be interesting to see how that shakes out.

If you had actually watched it you would have seen the numbers to know it isn't shaking out for Canon and Nikon. While Sony A7III sales have increased, total Canon EOS R , EOS RP and Nikon Z6 numbers are dropping far behind. J. Christina discusses the real reasons why this is happening. Worth watching before you comment without any knowledge. lol Cheers
I'm not surprised that Sony is doing so well. The Canon results were a bit surprising, although the time span is a bit short to tell a real story.
To beat Sony, somebody will have to top what they do, not just match it. My wild ass guess is that it will be a company that nobody ever heard of yet, with a technology that is truly innovative.

I think the right analogy is to the auto industry. The big three US companies spent two decades fighting a rear guard action against safety standards and environmental technology, while the Japanese manufacturers were moving forward on both fronts. One of the big three died, and the other two will be playing catch up for the rest of time. (And frankly if it weren't for truck sales the other two would be dead too.)
Not a perfect analogy, since technological change moves far more quickly now, but still I think apt.

I fully disclosed why I did not watch it, and I stated that what I was offering was my opinion.
That you would state that I commented with no knowledge is a big tel that you are thin skinned and cannot tolerate other opinions, for that reason, I will unwatch this thread now.

Perhaps you should have not stated you did not watch it till the end. Then you would have some credibility.I would think "thin-skinned" is the next person you see in the mirror.
That's as far as I got into the video, also
I have no opinion on the topic.
I skipped over the tea segment (which ran less than a minute) and watched the rest. Interesting discussion, but I'm not sure you can draw ANY significant lesson from the first 30 days (or so) of a new product line. What he says does make sense, especially that most working pros aren't going to be interested in First Gen anything (don't want to be beta testers for the big companies - nice line), so Nikon and Canon are just going to have to work through firmware updates and product development until they come up with a more refined, more capable, more PROVEN product.
But again - this is all based on the first month of availability of the Nikon and Canon products. It's mostly speculation.
Interesting but only round 1 of a 10 round fight. Sony does have a leg up but while out shooting Snowy owls in a group there was a Sony shooter and there was only one, her longest lens was a 100-400mm. I was shooting a 600 f/4.0 with a 2x. Her shots were great with good color but until Sony catches up with Nikon and Canon in lenses offered I wouldn't even think of making the change and no I wouldn't want to have to use the adapter either. As to the movie, yes I watched it all, I don't need or want a mirrorless camera made by anyone at this time. When Nikon and Canon come out with "gen 2" I think we will see some big changes in what % of the market each company will hold. This always has and will continue to be an up and down game and I'm in no hurry to spend any more money to play. I'm very happy with what I have.
I too will not watch the video due to the introduction, but here is my take on this issue.
I want Sony to continue pushing. In the end however, I do not think they will win. In part because they do not understand ease of use and how to build a useable menu system. The new Nikon Z6 and Z7 menu systems are far more useable (with my limited in store playing), with familiar menu systems and operational techniques that mimic their DSLR brethren. We need them all to keep battling each other to foster innovation and improvement.

Sony's leg up started when they were developing and selling sensors to everyone else. I don't have their latest cameras, but have no complaints about the A-mount DSLR/Trans-Lucent Mirror models I have.
The MILC cameras will continue to improve, and Sony will do well, and I think competition will bare even better fruit over time.... til the market shrinks below the profit line (if it does). Sony is and has been making many phone sensors, so that market will also keep them in the game, along with their other products.
In a world of ever changing and more rapidly evolving technology, just staying in the game can be considered a win. Sooner or later someone at Sony will "get it" with regard to functions, ease of use and menu, and things may change yet again.......
At some point I can see the possibility of more consolidation, SonyCan, SonyNik, CanSony, NikSony, NikCan, CanNik, CanSoNik, NikSoCan, SoCanNik, etc. etc. not unlike the assimilation of Minolta........

That clearly does not include Japan, were the Canon mirrorless is outselling Sony!
