Something altogether different here. I am going to revise my trust and would like to leave my gear to a charitable cause where it will be appreciated and used for what it is intended. Any thing out there. An ongoing photography project for inner city children for example. Perhaps an outdoor program that introduces individuals to wildlife and gives them the ability to photograph them. Reaching out for ideas or existing programs that may be out there.

I do not know particulars, in your area, but suspect that public schools, Boy & Girls Clubs, Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, etc, would appreciate the donations of photo equipment, books, videos, etc, so they could conduct classes in photography. Call around, and see what you learn.

My camera club has a collection of items listed on a data base that members can use to practice with. I have made quite a few contributions and I have my will set up to donate a lot more. Our camera club is connected to a recognized nature center with multiple sponsors and facilities.

I'm sure there is something your side, but here in the U.K. we have the Disabled Photographers Society where they mostly find solutions to help people continue photography when perhaps they might have thought they couldn't.

I'm also getting involved with a local Charity that assists Acquired brain Injury victims and got an offer from a U.S. hog. When I pointed out to him this was a U.K. only venture he just said 'Needy are needy'.

You've a lot good people out there and I'm sure you'll be able to help many.

Great idea in my will I have it set up so that my wife can't sell my Camera or Fishing gear for what I "told" her I paid for it :)

I don't know for sure, but would think a veterans organization could use it for wounded veterans.

It would help to know what region of the country you are in as well as the name of the country itself.

Another option is to find a STEM or STEAM school near you. They use photographic equipment both for photos for publication and within their curriculum for documentary and artistic photography. Cameras that can also be used to create videos would have added value for them. Keep in mind, though, that these schools are generally most interested in current or very recent generation equipment. Older gear may be destined for dissection to see how technology is applied through the design of the equipment.

I spend a lot of my daylight hours in such a school, and can tell you that they are wonderful places doing great work with a lot of great kids.

I like this one, based in Phoenix:

http://www.kidsinfocus.org/

"Kids in Focus programs inspire hope in children ages 10-14 who come from backgrounds of poverty, homelessness, neglect and/or abuse.

The kids receive much more than a camera. Mentored by professional photographers, together they take a journey of creativity culminating in a public photography exhibit, a hardbound book, and a new self-confidence for the future. The program empowers the kids to explore, to trust and to see the world in a new light."
