I consider this as the 2nd most important accessory after my camera for my city tours/street photography. I tried several models but so far haven't found the one that fully meets my requirements:
- easy to turn around your neck to pick the camera
- relatively safe against pickpockets when carried on the back
- waterproof
and holding
- 1 APS-C DSLR with mounted grip and 15-85mm zoom
- tablet and phone
- passport, purse and pocket guidebook
- small stuff (lenspen, dust blower, memory cards etc)
- separate holder/compartment for water bottle
Does NOT need to hold tripod, flash or additional lenses.

If you own or came across a specific model that fits this bill, please please let me know. The search on this web site didn't bring recent posts on this subject.

That looks like a nice bag Gene. BTW, it's only $63 on Amazon.

I have one also, and it is a nice bag. I’ve noticed that Lowepro makes minor changes in their bags pretty regularly, and you can typically buy the old model on EBay or Amazon for 1/2 price.

Take a trip to a nearby camera store and carefully examine in person the camera sling bags they offer. Perhaps they have something which fits your specific requirements. Sometimes looking at online pictures just won't do.

Check billingham.co.uk. They have a variety of bag sizes, and styles. They are highly weather resistant against snow, dust, and rain. They cost a bit, but are worth it. The 72, the S4, and others are worth a look. I have no idea as to the measurements of your gear, but you can check that, and then find a bag which will serve. I have a lot of gear, and so have several bags to carry / store it. I now only buy Billinghams. I have the 72, and Hadley Large, and F Stop / 1.4. I will soon be buying a 335. The FibreNyte varieties hold their color a bit longer, and are a bit lighter weight, than the canvas varieties. The canvas varieties come in a wider range of colors. Billinghams have some padding all around. Other brands lack such. Some Domke bags, for example, have padded sides, and top, but no padding on front, and back. Shop around, and let us know what you get, and why.

How big is your purse? I used a LowePro that had great side access for my camera plus room for filters, cards, etc. and an upper compartment that variously held rain jacket, guide book, snacks . Check them out. Mine didn’t accomodate an iPad but that wasn’t important to me. LowePro offers ton of styles.

Check out the pacSafe line of cross-body sling bags, you might find something that meets your requirements. I use one of their different models and think it's great. chase

check out the Amazon Basics camera sling bag. Less than $25. I use it as my 300mm 2.8 carry bag and it easily fits your specs.

I have had a Lowe Pro sling bag for years. When I travel or just go out with a couple of items it is my go-to bag every time. Easy access to camera by turning bag from back to front. (that's why you use a sling bag), great storage for extra items, key hook so you don't have your keys swallowed up and a built in rain cover. Nice extra cross chest strap if you want to secure it from sliding when hiking or accessing difficult terrain. Does not scream camera bag with potentially a bunch of expensive stuff inside. Goes on airplanes easily as a second "small personal item."

Only drawback is you cannot change shoulders with it. Just designed to ride and sling on one side. Perhaps the new model is reversible. The cheap Amazon bag is OK but I have had divider issues with similar bags (lots of copies) because of the zipper goes all the way across the bag so other items can fall out when you want to access the camera compartment only. When you compare features to all the other name brands, you will see LowePro is well thought out from years of making camera sling bags. Also very affordable when compared to the rest.

Actually, GMW - I DID put this forth, the LAST time this came up … maybe you missed it!!!

The ONLY Sling Bag I have (the rest are ALL shoulder bags) - is the Case Logic "DSLR" # TBC 410 - which can be purchased from Staples for $48.95 (according to my receipt - dated 4-14-2015.)

It has TWO main (zippered) compartments - one accessed from the top, and the other accessed from the side. The side compartment is plenty big enough for even the very largest of APS-C DSLRs with a fairly short zoom lens attached. My Canon Rebel T4i with 15-85 IS USM attached, fits nicely, and still leaves plenty of room on the other sides of the two dividers, for a small flash, filters, extra SD cards, and cable.
The actual dimensions of that compartment are 7" deep, 5" front-to-back, and 6.5" across the width. The top compartment, also zippered - is curved at the top, so precise dimensions cannot be given - however, it is 7" at the bottom (adjacent to the main pocket, and approximately 5" at the top. Interior depth of that one - is ALSO 5" - but remember, it's a flexible bag - so all dimensions can be squeezed out a little. This compartment works well, for a 2nd lens - say 70-300, laying on the side. Or, you could use it for a 2nd body - perhaps, a bridge - if you like. There are three main pockets - all on the exterior. The largest is around 9" long by 6.5" across. You should be able to slide a manual in there, along with filters, spare cards, and a spare battery or two. Inside THAT pocket are two "sleeves" - one against the main body, and the other one is zippered - attached to the outside flap. In addition to THAT - there is a secondary pocket on the OUTSIDE of the main pocket - which could be used for IDs, etc. So, there's plenty of room for a cell-phone, small i-pad, or whatever else you might have. Additionally, there is a loose stretch pocket, along one edge, which would allow for a bottle of water, etc. The top of this is NOT zippered, and is upright when the bag is used as a backpack, rather than a slung shoulder bag. The strap is 2.5" wide, and can be adjusted up or down at will. Overall dimensions of the strap are not known, but an estimate would be around 3-4' when fully extended. I don't see anything here on the card which came with it, about it being waterproof - but, if you kept your camera in the main compartment - accessed from the side - shouldn't think you'd have any problems with rain. If you have no need for that spacious top compartment - you could always put in a large towel, just in case!!! .. The item # is - 63-2402953. Good Luck, GMW.

I have two Manfretto bags. One is full backpack, the other a sling. Both have a tablet/laptop pocket. The access for the camera in both is from the back, so fairly pickpocket proof. I'm at Starbucks right not, so not sure of model numbers.
