How do I make this photo pop?

The color balance needed to be addressed as the first step. Then saturation and vibrancy needed a bit of a push. Finally mid range contrast. I tried straightening the post and decided that it had more appeal the way it was. The un-cropped image helps enforce the perception of a tiny bird in a huge world.
