Hey Hassie... why not just stick with Canon as Paul mentions ? I also have the 60D and wanted to get into FF to complete my Canon kit. I opted for a 6D because the price was right (under 1000) and for my purposes was a better fit than the mark II. I could not not be happier with my purchase as ALL my legacy lenses can be used. B&H was sold out of the discontinued 6D so I went with 33 st. Camera and got EXCELLENT quick delivery with US warranty. If you do decide to do the 6D don't wait too long as it is a great buy for the money.... BTW, I am 74 myself so I can empathize with you. Good Luck. Bob

I am thinking of moving from my current Canon 60D to a Nikon Full Frame D750 with the 24-120 lens.
I know there are supporters of both brands in the UHH but I can't afford the Canon full frames at this point and, at 72 years old, I'm not sure I will be around to fully enjoy a 5DIII or IV.
Am I thinking about this too deeply, or should I just go ahead and do it?
Thanks for any advice.

If I were you I would look for a used D810 or D850. The D750 has too many recalls to trust it for the money. Money better spent on a better camera. You only live once.

Good for you. The D750 is a great camera, and the price has dropped way down since I got mine. As for age - irrelevant. I have three years on you, and I just added a Fuji X-T30 and two lenses to my collection. You can't do much spending and having fun (as far as we know) after you're dead, so do all you can now.

Recently moved from the D7100 to the D750. Could not be happier. Low light performance is excellent and there is a huge improvement in overall image quality. The 24-120 is my most used lens.

The D750 was recalled for a shutter problem in 2015, but neither of mine were included. That's the only recall of the D750 I could find. The D810 was also recalled, as were Canon cameras.

“Too many recalls” - wow, I owned one for several years and never had a single recall from Nikon. Early on there was a single recall on shutters, I believe, but mine was not effected. Could you identify the list of the many recalls?

Actually, your what-about-ism is not accurate here. There are not / were not Canon recalls of full-frame DSLRs. Certainly not anything like the D600 oil-spot / shutter fiasco nor the D750 recall, also shutter related.

Have you used a Nikon before? It seems an odd decision to decide to change brands to simply get to full frame. The EOS 6DII kit is about the same price. Granted, Canon doesn't have a full-frame model that matches directly to the D750 and Canon doesn't have a full-frame zoom as "long" as the 24-120. Other than a full-frame sensor and price, are there specific features of the D750 that make it the better choice to the 6DII or Canon's more basic mirrorless full-frame, the EOS RP?

I agree with Paul. I still have my Canon 60D but purchased a used 5D III a year ago for a good price here on the Hog. Started buying L glass, used or refurbished and never looked back. If you are used to Canon controls on your camera and are familiar with them, I would suggest you think long and hard about changing brands at this point. Also do you have any EF (full frame) lenses already you might have used on your 60D? If so that is another reason to stick with Canon.

I see so many here choosing their camera equipment related to their age. If you are reasonably healthy and can afford it buy what you want without considering your age. Maybe you will live another year or 15 years. Why restrict your choice to what may be in the future!

I am you age, and purchased a D850 with a 24-120 lens 6 weeks ago from Cameta. Love them.

Age give us a slight advantage in long term planning.
Experience adds to an intelligent choice.

Sorry to hear about your health issues; but it definitely gives you pause in moving ahead. My 78-year-old husband is a five year survivor of lung cancer after having one lobe removed & chemo. I pray that you become a survivor as well to enjoy that new camera and lens combo.

I'm 82 and still enjoy shooting with my 5D MIII and my newly acquired Sony RX10 IV. Being familiar with Canon is an advantage. Don't let your age be the determining factor. Money & desire should be the basis of your decisions.

Good luck.

I'll be 68 next month and I figure to attempt to wear out my equipment over the next 20-30 years, and buy whatever I need and makes me happy in the process.

You sound like you think 72 is old. Rethink that thinking!
