I have never used a mount/lens adapter, and want to try one.Specifically Nikon lenses to my Pentax-k70.
Do the adapters interfere with the photo quality?
Forgive my ignorance, but I have found some dandy Nikon lenses that are calling to me.
Thank you!

I can recommend the FotodioX Pro adapters. I use two, Exakta-Nikon and M42-Nikon, and for all practical purposes see little or no image degradation. Maybe you would see some loss of IQ in the corners with a macro lens and flat copy, but I don’t consider that a practical use.
Be aware that the adapters act as a 1.4X teleconverter. You’ll be metering and shooting at the working aperture, so they’re better suited for still subjects with a tripod. Give it a try!

Thank you so much! I went for the FotodioX adapter!

If you find one the Nikon lens will be totally manual and if it does not have an aperture ring you will not be able to adjust the aperture.
In simple terms bad idea
I use Nikon lens adapters to Sony camera, and there is no loss in quality of the image.
Also use M42 & Leica 39 screw adapters to the Sony body. Focussing can be done at full aperture, and stopped down for shooting. Gives my old lenses a new lease of life. They love it!

I think you’ll be happy with it. A lot of folks here have said that inexpensive adapters with a lens to provide infinity focus ruin IQ - I’d be interested to know your impressions. Happy shooting!

Remember that there will be some image degradation using the Nikon lens on the Pentax body.
This is due to the optic in the adapter so infinity can be obtained.
I do this with FD lenses to EF camera. It does work and good photos are obtained but they are a bit softer than with no glass.
I use a glassless adapter for very sharp closeup photos though.

There is a different approach available than an adapter, which is to convert a Nikon F mount lens to Pentax K mount by modification to the lens. It avoids the downsides of an adapter but costs more of course, and has to be done to each individual lens. But the results are said to be better. Go to:
http://leitax.com/Nikon-lens-for-Pentax-cameras.htmlThere have been some discussions on this subject on the Pentax Forum and a search there might provide some more info.

Annie, unless Pentax does not make the lens or lenses you need I see no reason to use an adapter to fit other lenses. Let me tell you right now that Nikon lenses are manufactured to fit Nikon cameras where they perform at their best.
Pentax has very nice optics. Stay with Pentax.

It is fun.
I use old Nikon lenses on my Canon film and digital cameras because I have them and want to even though some are duplicated by my Canon lenses.

I have Pentax lens to Nikon body adapter with, and without the glass element., but have had more success using the Pentax m42 / Leica 39 screw / Nikon AI,lenses with glassless adapter to Sony body. Pic 1. 9cm f/4.Leitz Elmar lens circa 1950's 60's. Pic 2. Pentax Super Takumar 35mm f/2. 1960's 70's.

Unfortunately, you cannot achieve infinity focus adapting Nikon lenses to PK mount. You will need an adapter with glass, which does degrade the image quality.
I have the fotodiox adaptor for pentax mount to Nikon mount. You lose your maximum aperture because of the 1.4X factor, plus images are not very good until you get pass f5.6 aperture. OK at f8.

Why oh why, desecrate both great brands. The flange depth is different for Nikon vs Pentax cameras. If you really want vintage made like tanks manual lenses, get a few Pentax Takumar M-42 / Screw mount lenses and a Pentax Branded / OEM M-42 to K-mount adapter. No glass just threads to bayonet. Why not get a older used Nikon body cheap and use your lenses as intended?
In addition to all my Pentax K-mount lenses I have many Vintage Takumar lenses as well: 28mm 1:3.5, 35mm 1:3.5, 50mm 1:4 Macro, 55mm 1:1.8, 135mm 1:3.5, older auto-takumar (not what it sounds like) 35mm 1:3.5. These I can use on my Pentax film cameras, Spotmatic, K1000, K2 DMD, and my digital cameras, K-3, K-5, K-20D, K-100D. Someday I also want one of those radioactive Takumar lenses, usually a yellowed 50mm 1:1.4 lens!
MILC are an entire different animal and question.
