I bought these at the PX store when I was in Vietnam, still use them today.
The wood came from an old barn door I found at a resale store. Cut the door in two and now use it for a backdrop at times.

I like the shot except for the translucent lens caps. Wish they were a solid color other than white. But, that's just me.

I'm not sure how you might convey the age or history of the binoculars - perhaps with old maps and other items from that time and place?

As presented, for me this comes across as a "product" shot technically well done. The wood boards work beautifully. However, the caps remind me of covers for condiments that accompany onion rings, french fries and such - incompatible with the rich colors and dark textures of the rest.

I wonder how many people would see a door and think it would be better as a backdrop .

Thanks Matt. From the comments I should have left the caps in the case.

They are the original caps, I should have just left them out. Earlier today I think I learned a way to eliminate the shiny rivets with light manipulation that will let me process a bit differently.
Thanks for your thoughts Linda.

I saw the door and immediately thought I could use the door as a backdrop. Doesn't take too much room in the garage. The wood was well weathered and very gray in color. Not much to look at so I sealed the wood and all the rich color came to life. Thanks so much for stopping by RG

Hi Jim, I like the concept of this Image. If you don't mind I have a suggestion to enhance it a bit,
Try it again with the light coming from the Right side slightly higher. keep it more toward the dark side with more texture shown. Use a reflector for the Left side to maintain the shadows a bit. Also. The Plastic lens covers date the Image.

Looks good to me; but there were some nice suggestions made about lighting. Now I'm wondering if that might not be an improvement. Interesting that the lens caps actually date the product.

The comments about the lens caps are interesting, dating the product. Is that dating the product correctly or not, they are original?
