Jerry when you’ve used the camera for awhile, would you be so kind as to post a quick review? My LX100 has an issue with the lens/lens housing and the repair cost from Panasonic is outrageous so I’m looking to go in a different direction. Your sage advice is always appreciated....at least by me! Thanks!

I gave it a lot of though, and yesterday I ordered a Fuji X-T30 with 18-55mm lens from Amazon. By ordering early enough, I was able to get next-day delivery. That's the good part.

The bad part: no SD card will snap into the slot. I tried several that I had used in other cameras, but it will not stay. I'll have to pack it up and send it back. The camera was obviously brand, with perfect packing of all the part. There are no foreign objects in there, and I can push the card all the way down. It just doesn't click. I guess the clicker is broken.

Unless one of you has an easy fix, I'll let Amazon know and send it back on Monday. Now I'll have to decide if I want to get a replacement or a refund. Maybe my Sony a6000 and D750 will be enough for me.

EDIT: Never mind. It's working fine now. Same cards, same slot. Now the cards snap in and out just as they're supposed to. Maybe the camera was just testing me to see if I would be a loyal owner.

If (after shooting with it for a day or two) you like the camera, order another one, and when you receive it and it checks out OK, then return the first one (the "no downtime method"). Unless there is a step in the unboxing/first use of the camera that addresses "unlocking or turning on the card slot latching mechanism" I fear it will repeat the issue. As an earlier post stated it is a mechanical latch mechanism, it should work from first insertion until the bitter end! Unless you were putting the card in turned the wrong way , I'd be forever worried about premature latch failure. My $.02

Use it a lot before the warranty runs out. There is a manufacturer warranty, right? You might have an unreliable card slot.

Hi Jerry, I am one that would probably send it back unless I could see that it was user error...I would always be worried about it failing again and with my luck it would fail 1 day after the warranty ended...

Glad to hear it was a short lived problem. I can only imagine the relief you felt when it corrected itself.

Best of luck with the new toy ....err CAMERA!

Of course it's a toy. My mother years ago gave me the recipe for keeping a man happy. 1. Feed him well 2. Give him lots of affection 3. Tell him often how wonderful he is, and 4. Make sure he has lots of toys. It worked for 40 years with my husband and it also is the secret of success with dogs!

What'd you do Jerry, turn the card over and stick it in right?

Now that it's working, I'll do some shooting tomorrow and see how it works. The manual is over 300 pages, so I think Auto will be just fine, at first. : )

Congrats. Hope it continues to work! Can't wait to see some images.

Hey, hey, hey! Don't be mean. I did that when I got my Fuji! It does go in opposite of my Nikons! Or maybe I had the camera backwards when putting it in. Oh, well!

A minor glitch in the process Jerry. Get the replacement - you’ll love the Fuji, and that is an excellent lense.

Maybe you had the wrong orientation? That will cause the symptom. (Voice of experience, it causes the same problem on other cameras, as well.

I wasn't being mean. I's just giving Jerry an opportunity to fess up. I figure everybody from NY needs to fess up about something. They just need an opportunity.

I would prefer a camera that worked correctly right out of the box. It may work now, but later, who knows. I would send it back and get another one that would work properly right out of the box.

Have to agree.

I had a similar problem on a Chromebook that I bought. I couldn’t get the SD card to stay when using my finger. I tried using (carefully) a letter opener top end that was ~ as wide as the SD card and ~ the same thickness if I pushed it a little past where I could get it with only my finger it locked ever time. Same for removing. I’ve since found a small portable combo can opener screwdriver, etc. tool that works for that as well.

I took it out of its little plastic case.
