Someone said I should label this post Bullwinkle and Rocky. These are a couple of shots from week before last. Colorado released a few breeding pairs of moose in northern Colorado in the 90s and wildlife department say there are now just a few under 1,700 ranging from up in southern Wyoming to down into northern New Mexico with probably the main cluster in the Grand Lake area on the south end of Trail Ridge Road. It is pretty rare to cross paths with the moose with all the forest land here. The bull moose paused to check me out and went on his way.

There was a cow and a calf with him but refused to come out of the trees so I could get a good shot of them. I did include a shot on the bottom of this post of the cow and calf. The moose shots were taken at close to noon and the light wasn't good. I've gone back a couple of times but haven't found them again. I will. It'll just take a little time. This was just about 40 miles from where I live.

Squirrels are a little more plentiful. This one was shot off my back deck in the south Denver metro area. After I returned from getting the moose shots I was sitting on the deck cleaning my gear and this curious lil' squirrel came visiting.

Then a couple of days later and a little closer to home, I got a few fairly decent elk shots. Elk are like the squirrels in that they aren't at all hard to find. I have a couple of herds with 100+ in each of them within 20 miles from where I live.

Please feel free to add your wildlife shots if you'd like but I'd just as soon you didn't edit mine.

You've done really good work here. I envy you living where those shots are possible. Great stuff. [/quote]

Thank you. It is a thrill to be so lucky as to occasionally come across critters like these which certainly doesn't happen every day.

All we get to shoot around here are a few squirrels, but I can drive 30 miles and get owls, egrets, herons, turtles and eagles. I don't go often. Too busy painting, but now I may MAKE more time to go. I love the photos!!!

I know. Real funky light that day. Sorry for the delayed response. I've turned notification emails off and didn't know you'd visited this thread. I adjusted it some. How do you like it now? Green's better'n purple don't you think?

Thank you. I'm gonna have to get those guys into the studio so I can take some proper portraits and control the lighting a little better.

Sorry I missed this - twice, LOL. Thank you. I've seen your magnificent images of animals and flowers, most of which we don't have available up here due to the altitude. There are days I would love to have the variety of critters that you do there.

Well, thank you, but I don't have any Bullwinkles and things like you have out there either. If you are ever over this way, yell at me and I'll be happy to show ya where the eagles, owls, egrets and herons are.

LOL.....it's a very nice pic......just real funky colors. maybe bullwinkle is purple because he has bad circulation.

Thanks JC56. The color might have been a circulation issue - he had just come out of a freezing beaver pond and was wet which I think caused some of the color issue. I'll do better next time.
