A Walk on Dartmoor

Was thinking about an etching I saw recently and decided to see if I could replicate the effect with a landscape image from our recent break on Dartmoor. This is the start of the walk from Two Bridges out to Wistman's Wood. Not to everyone taste Im sure, but your thoughts on it would be appreciated anyway.

I think it's wonderful, Dave! Just enough detail in the dark areas, great contrasts for interest, a leading line, a lone tree on the hillside, a dog - what more could we want? This is one I'd be very curious about seeing printed.

The effect isn't really my cup of tea, too blocked up but, the image itself is wonderful!
I adjusted it and toned it and it truly is a lovely picture. I will post the change if you'd like.

PS: do you know why there are wires strung along the stone wall?

Splendid composition, moody atmospheric light was just right for your etching effect. I am on the fence as to if a bit closer crop showcasing more of the the lady and dog works better. Thanks for sharing it.

Not sure the other Linda would be too happy about your description Linda! Oh, you’re referring to Maggie?
Think I will print it, it’s an effect I’d like to develope further.
Many thanks for your thoughts on it, always appreciated.

Feel free to post it Rich, although I’ve seen it in every form on the way to reaching this, others may well agree with you and enjoy it more.
Many thanks for your interest and thoughts on it.

I did wonder about cropping closer but preferred the distance to the cottage. Although both with me at the time, the figures are dropped in, so I could bring them closer and retain the distance of the cottage, but it makes it too much about them, I think.
Many thanks indeed for your thoughts on it Joe.

That’s what matters at the end of the day - the viewer should enjoy it in some way. Thanks for commenting John.

That is a great shot and a great conversion. It is slightly darker than I like but that is me.

Magnetman I am so enthralled with this image, the shading and positional attributes, the near look of a nineteenth century type of a gravure technique, that I made a few adjustments, and I hope with your approval am posting this wonderful image of yours. RBorud
