The use of words changes over time. Amazon is offering a "Renewed" MS Surface. I wonder if that's one step above refurbished.

So, I went to Amazon, and searched for whatca called it, and I read the first sentence:

This Amazon Renewed product is professionally inspected and tested by an Amazon qualified supplier. Box and accessories may be generic. Learn more

The learn more is a link

That is all I am going to say. :)

I wish more manufacturers would follow the Apple and Canon leads. They both give the same warranty as new. I've had great luck with both.

They have that much faith in their merchandise.

Reconditioned > Refurbished > Renewed terms can mean anything the seller wants them to mean. Any of them could range from outer cleaning, changing batteries, putting it in a new package, just testing function..... to repairing bad parts and damage.

What matters is if the camera is now fully functional, and satisfies you cosmetically, with some kind of warranty. The good guys warranty used equipment, unless stating "As Is", "For Parts Only", or some clear disclaimer.
