Lost userids and password list.

Returned from our cruise and found that I have lost my list of userids and passwords. I've changed my banks info, but I have many others that probably need changing as well. Is there anyway to do a blanket block and then change as needed? I know I shouldn't have listed them out, but it is what it is.
Thanks for your help
Moose

My password list is on a file and the file is backed up and archived. No paper copy to get lost. When a password gets changed the file gets updated and the date is part of the filename so I can tell which is the most recent file.

I use an app on my Android phone called 1 Password. It only opens with my fingerprint, and it syncs to my iPad Pro and my wife’s phone, so we’re always up to date on our passwords. Where I work, our passwords change every 3 months, and it’s very easy to edit and save my passwords. I have tried a lot of various apps, and I have found this is the best for us, as we always have our phones with us.

Thanks folks for the solutions, but my problem now is what to do if someone finds that list and starts to use it. I guess I'll just need to watch any transactions and inquiries. Or go through and change the ids and pw's on all. What a chore that will be.

That's why you keep it protected by only being able to open it with your fingerprint.

I don’t think there is a foolproof system and no way to undo your loss without visiting every site and going through a reset. I keep my passwords on my iPhone that is backed up so I can’t lose them but they certainly are vulnerable. I use fingerprint ID for the phone and iPad.

Ok...that's what you do. How does that help him? He is asking for help.

Yes, go to each one and change the password. In the meantime, get a password program and keep it on your computer, backed up onto secure media.

No help for past practices but if you use a password manager like Dashlane you can change passwords much more easily by simply selecting the critical sites and Dashlane will take you through the change password process for that site. Dashlane also generates "strong" (i.e. much less obvious and harder to break passwords) passwords for you and will keep track of reused passwords if you use your own made up passwords. It's a much better way to keep track of the dozens (hundreds?) you've probably got login setups for. All that said, 1 comment: Userid's and passwords are the worst possible security mechanism man has invented and I just wish the industry would get its act together and develop the hardware/software mechanisms to provide reasonable access security.

I use LastPass and it links all my devices. Although to address your specific question - I know of no way to do a blanket block and change. Esp since it is recommended that all the passwords should be different.

Notes on the iPad and iPhone has a way to password protect a note file. I do that with some of my more frequent passwords so I can take them with me. You just have to remember one simple password to open the Notes file.
