I'm all a-quiver to hear about that!

Alan, but I do get focus confirmation (green light in viewfinder) with my Nikon D5300!? But it's only useful with static subjects; with moving targets the little light might just flicker... maybe that's what you meant.

I also learned from Steve Perry about 8 months ago. Awesome way to stay in control while photographing.

Switched to BBF several months, won't go back. Both camera bodies set up this way.

Generally in continuous focus modes you will not get confirmation, that is what Alan was talking about, he said he most always has his cameras in continuous focus modes, for a Canon it would be the AI Servo or AI Focus, when you are set to "One Shot" non continuous focus you will get the highlight and beep.

Have been using BBF for years with my Canon DSLR and would not have it any other way. Also, use / enjoy an Olympus OMD em5II with only one complaint - cannot configure BBF anywhere within comfortable reach of my thumb without throwing off the camera balance / stability. Curious if anyone else can suggest BBF with this olympus camera as I really miss it.

I also have my focus mode set to continuous focus since with that, back button focus essentially gives you the benefit of non-continuous focus (press and release) and continuous focus (press and hold). The point is that I get focus confirmation when using the press and release mode of back-button focusing.

I also get focus confirmation in servo on my Canon. In one shot the confirmation is green, in servo it is blue, if focus fails it is orange. You get used to it.

I started using it about two months ago and I think it is so much better than using the shutter button to focus. The best thing for me is that once you focus your camera, it stays focused at that distance. So, if you are photographing a still image, your camera won't have to refocus after each shot, which I find annoying. You also eliminate accidental shooting because you pushed the shutter button too hard.

I should have Nikon d70 200 and one of the first things I did was go to back button focusing. It's quick it's easy it's consistent you don't have to hold the shutter button halfway down and you get excellent pictures it's the only way to fly

I use it on all my cameras. It is great when you want to hold a focus point.
