Most camera manuals can be downloaded to a PDF file and loaded onto your phone. It should be burned onto a CD-ROM disk. We have got to save the trees. There may be a PhotoBob's cheat sheet available too for your new "baby". My advice, don't put it in your camera bag. It will add weight and make it easier for someone else (like a thief) to know how to play with it.

It is not to save the trees. It is to save the $$$$!

I keep all my manuals, that I have downloaded, in Dropbox I mark them as readable offline. That way I can access them from anywhere.

Hi chaps!

I think one of the best accessories I've bought so far for my new camera, is the full, printed manual.

I refer to it whenever I use the camera and it's invaluable for a beginner like myself.

Got it on eBay for less than $20.00. A4, spiral bound, great professional quality print.

It would have been a total pain to print this myself. Over 200 pages.

I don't have any printers in miles of me so this was the only option.

Remember the good old days when stuff came with proper manuals ?

Just thought I'd share that.

Paul :)

I download my manuals and use to them on my laptop. A PDF manual can use search tools to quickly find what you are looking for. My new Canon EOS RP did not come with a paper manual. Online manuals are the direction manufacture are going in the future.

I love printed manuals so much so that I am afraid to damage them so I always use the PDF when they are available.

I actually prefer mine in pdf form. Have them in my Kindle along with my photography books on my phone, my pad and my computers. Easy access where ever I am.

I couldn't work with the screen size on a phone. But an eight inch Kindle Fire does the trick. In the space of a single manual you can have them all, and all are searchable.

For Nikon owners the Nikon Manual Viewer is the bee's knees. You can download the manuals all from one place, right into the viewer.

I hadn't thought about printing only the "important" part of the manual...will look into doing that. I agree
having this abbreviated version will travel well and that's what I like best!!

For A10;
Sorry if this bothers anyone for going off topic. If you've ever suffered a Lucas problem I'm sure you understand.
Thanks for the manual idea. Maybe I can find one for my K20D.

Rick

I just purchased a PhotoBob's Cheat Sheet for my Canon 5D Mark IV. It wasn't expensive either. It saves me the aggravation of pulling out the manual. I am more confident without my 600+ page manual.

Where do you find the PhotoBob cheat sheets? I tried a bunch of google searches and came up blank.

I don't understand. Every Nikon camera I have purchased came with a printed manual (and I have several Nikon, and only Nikon, cameras). Do other manufacturers not include a printed manual?

All my Nikons came with full printed manuals. Neither my Sony nor my Panasonic came with manuals, just getting started pamphlets. They did provide links to online manuals. That might be the difference between old school camera companies and tech companies.

Ah!!! John Lucas... inventor of the three way electric switch... Dim, Flicker and Off. Purveyor of Canned Ignition Smoke, to refill your ignition wiring in event of a short circuit.

I spent a number of years rebuilding and restoring Brit cars. Many makes.

Also Triumph, Norton and Beezers. Then switched to Airhead Beemers.

For those of you who like having books. I have some technical books like how to use LR, I have taken the books to a FedEx store and had them spiral bound the books. It only cost $6 or $7 dollars.

Wowza! I had a '66 A65L. BSA - Bastard Stopped Again. I bought in '70- after @ 3 other guys had chopped it. Wiggly wobbly Harley front end, Triumph hard tail, VW rear tire, and I ended up putting a Honda 750 coil on it. So I needed my SAE tools, my metrics, and my Whitworths. And a couple hammers. Valvetrain geometry was crooked- they didn't go out of adjustment every 5-7k miles, they wore out a couple thousandths every 5-7k miles. Getting the carb slides chromed was a great thing. Always kept a spare head, cylinder and pistons handy.
