Ok, this time the picture finally loaded!

The picture was meant as an introduction of myself into this group. I have been a member for a while but have never posted anything before.

Comments and critiques are appreciated!

Thanks,
Klaus

Was a beauty dish used with the center light blocker disc installed? That can create the small dark spot in center of the catch lights in the eyes. I have a beauty dish and have seen that happen with the disc installed. I have the disc installed but also have the diffuser sock stretched over the dish. I would probably touch that up so it's solid. I would try to get the catch lights in the 2 o'clock or 10 o'clock positions. For me the direct light is a little too flat. Moving the strobe off-center might give more character. This may be what you wanted so that's great.

I think you did a very good job. It has an artistic look that is totally believable and not over done. As for the beauty dish highlights mentioned by CO, I want to disagree. I'v posted a high key portrait in another site that gets viewed and commented by may viewers. So far it has several top 10 awards and many other awards while it too has the very obvious beauty dish highlights in her eyes. You will never please everyone.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments!

Actually the circle in the eyes was created with a ring flash mounted on the camera and was done as an effect and on purpose.

I agree the picture is somewhat flat because the ring light was wrapped around the lens and firing straight at the subject. I do normally use my key light on a 45 degree and slightly downward angle but I wanted to try something different.

You achieved a very nice and "mysterious" look. I like it. If I had anything to add, I would like to see the same amount of diffusion, but the eyes super sharp. Of course, I'm not at my good monitor, and I've needed new glasses for going on 6 years, so.... maybe I'm not the best one to judge sharp.

I do enjoy tight crops but I would refrain from cutting the bottom of the chin off and using powerful vignettes.
