If you don't need 600mm, check out the RX10 ii. It is the size of a small mirrorless body with a fast constant f2.8 24-200mm Zeiss lens attached!

I have checked test shots with a shirt pocket carried Sony HX 80 24-720 mm non interchangeable lens in daytime (daylight) photos against my Sony A 77II (1.5 crop sensor)with a quite good example of sigma 17-70 mm lens mounted.
To my surprise, I found that under these conditions at 24 mm equiv, the HX80 with it's smaller sensor appeared slightly crisper.
At 45 mm against my prime sigma 30 f1.4 art (45 mm equiv) the HX 80 at 45 mm equiv held it's own
at 600 mm equivalent the HX 80 was still pretty good but clearly no match for my sony 100-400 G master at 600mm equiv.
I have found , however that the smaller HX 80 is difficult to hold steady at equivalent focal lengths above 500 mm.
All test shots at ISO 200, f5.6 to f/8, 1/250 sec, IBIS on, tripod mounted w/ 2 sec delay on shutter release (to allow shake to self dampen after button press)
Since the RX 10 series are (supposedly) superior cameras to the HX 80, I would not hesitate to buy a RX 10 series Sony and use it as a more convenient and practical option that is optically virtually the equal of a DSLR (unless you have a niche need that requires a interchangeable lens IE unless you are trying for 1:1 or greater macro/micro, are into astrophotography, need a focal length not available in the compact camera (under 24 or greater than 720mm, or you need to tether (view the image and control the camera remotely) or some other niche need.
IMHO having that kind of photo capability in a small convenient to carry bauble just makes sense. That doesn't mean that I'll give up my DSLR's though.
I'm just saying that the combination of optical quality and ease of carry has pleasantly surprised this old SLR guy.

I am liking my RX10m4 a lot. The only aspect I'm a little disappointed in is the noise above ISO 800, so I just limit my AutoISO to not exceed that number. I also have the A6000 and A77ii so the menu system was a No-duh.
