New to DSLR photography. Recently purchased a Nikon D7200. Love the camera still understanding the various menus and features and how they affect my photos.

Welcome to the forum.
Read the manual a few times and experiment (you can always delete the images).

Welcome to UHH. You've come to the right place. You can get the answer to most any question you have here. My one piece of advice? At the top of this page one of the avilable options is "search." Somebody has probably already asked your question and you won't have to wait for answers. Other than that, show us some of your work; we love to comment.

Hi Mishka. welcome as a fellow photographer. You will learn a lot in this forum. The photographers here are experienced and love sharing their knowledge. Of course like any other forum you will quickly identify those that are rude and disrespectful. Don't judge the rest of us by the one or two rude know it all's.... Now that you have a great camera your creativeness will come out. Welcome. Lee

Hello, Mishka … welcome to UHH, and congratulations on your fine purchase of the extraordinary Nikon D7200. I have the one just before it - the D7100 - pretty much the same, except it lacks built-in Wi-Fi, and has a smaller buffer. Other than those two elements - pretty much the same camera. There's a lot to learn in Digital Photography. The basic triangle of exposure - governed by ISO, f-stop and shutter speed - is only half of the equation. You are right - the choices one makes in the menus - do affect your photos - in every single way. One of the most important menu choices one makes on a Nikon, is the selection of the lowest acceptable shutter speed. The next is the choice of the highest ISO you will allow. What you do with those two menu choices - pretty much governs what you do with the others, and dictates overall exposure accuracy. So, make those choices wisely. If you need help with that - just reach out to any one of us, here.

Welcome to "the Hog".

Be careful whose advice you take. As you read through many threads you will realize that some information is absolutely wrong, either intentionally or through ignorance. It won't take long for you to select those 'mentors' who will actually help.

Enjoy the new camera. The most important part of any hobby is to have fun.
