I have been to Savannah but only for a few hours. There is much history surrounding the city. Read up on it before going.

I spent two days in Savannah but unfortunately I made the trip in the middle of summer and the heat and humidity made it somewhat uncomfortable; now is probably the best time to go. Great history and fabulous food.

Great photo ops on Tybee Island. The light house and old fort stand out! Have a good trip and post some photos!

Savannah is to Georgia, like Charleston is to South Carolina. Both have architecture going back to the 19th Century. Civil war era. If you can go to both cities, that would be a bonus. About a two hour drive. And there is nothing that can compare to a Southern Style Breakfast, in either of those two cities. I suggest lenses appropriate, for taking photos of homes, public buildings, gardens, and parks.

Don't stay on Tybee, just go to fort, light house and dolphin tour ,went last July horrible, paid $2500 for a condo and couldn't see ocean ,plus it's crowded.

You will be very close to Beaufort South Carolina, lots of history in this town. It was occupied by the British during the Revolution and was not destroyed by the Northern aggressors during the Civil War. If you visit Beaufort you just have to take a horse drawn carriage tour of the old homes.

Stop at Bonaventure Cemetery. It is a beautiful spot - listed as "one of the country's top 10 most beautiful cemeteries" by some of those who make these lists... It is a beautiful little city.

My wife and I are headed to Charleston and Savannah from April 23 to May 2. Anyone recommend an affordable fishing guide opportunity, possibly someone with a senior discount?

I’m totally interested in this thread because my wife and I are going for five days in May. Hopefully some great locations will be discussed.

Fort Pulaski, which is on the way to Tybee island. It was the first Civil War fort to be shelled by rifled cannon fire, making short work of breaching the walls, thereby exposing the Magazine to direct shell fire. The fort surrendered quickly, rather than risking a Magazine explosion. The repairs to the walls do show the effects of the siege.
