West Texas is certainly not the hub of college basketball power, but, ...

In 1959 I was stationed at White Sands Missile Range, NM. I lived in El Paso. Our apartment was 1/2 mile from the campus of the 1966 miracle 16 seed NCAA champion, Texas Western. (first all black first team in the NCAA). There's even a movie about the miracle - "Glory Road"
Texas Tech may put West Tx on the map again. Its campus is in Lubbock, 350 miles from El Paso.

Virginia was a bit lucky to beat Auburn. I'm not a fan of Texas teams. I am a fan of the underdog! My team, Duke, was knocked out. I was hoping to see the phenom, Zion Williamson in the championship, but it was not to be. I'm not a fan of the very powerful and rich NCAA, but the tournament is one of the best competitions in sports.
I'll be watching!

I love the defense. You have a master class motivator if you get kids who have spent their lives focused on 'points' or 'moves' to play defense the way both Texas Tech and Virginia do. Coaches and players will love this match-up even if casual fans, who only like the the 'show' and the scoring may not.

Go Tech.

And in my opinion this year has been one of the most entertaining.

I can only imagine how the player that made the foul at the end of the game feels today.

Yes, that's a tough one for a kid!! I don't labor over erroneous or even "missed calls" in competition. That's part of the game. Some demand "perfection", an unobtainable status in sport. Maybe sports should invoke the way we used to settle disputes. "Choose it out". In my youth that settled all close calls and disputes. We played all day long without parents watching, without umpires/refs, without equipment and had a terrific time.

I'm old! My grandkids have bags on rollers to hold their equipment. We had a baseball covered with black electrical tape, one bat, some even had a mitt, but we were always playing sports. We played in the streets, on someone's lawn, used a peach basket for basketball and a spalding pink rubber ball for more games than I can remember.

It was a different time.

A sadness (but the slo mo shows it was a good call). They did miss the double dribble call on VA on the previous play, but as Mark says, that’s part of the game (although I thought the Auburn coach’s head would explode). A lot of this tournament’s games have been decided by a point or two in the last few seconds.

Baylor women won and UT men won the NIT. If Tech wins Monday night it will be a great year for Texas basketball. Go Horns.

If you've ever been to Texas, it is a State of much pride. They also take their High School Football in that State very serious. One city there has an 8,000 seat High School stadium, with lights. UCLA had a dynasty under the late coach John Wooden. Coach Bobby Knight from Indiana, and Tubby Smith from Kentucky. Both fired, were able to increase TV time for Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Texas Tech Basketball coach today, was an assistant under Bobby Knight. Many remember Bobby's undefeated championship season at Indiana. The Baylor Lady Bears won a thriller against the Fighting Irish Ladies of Notre Dame on Sunday. If Texas Tech men's basketball team beats Virginia, that would make the State of Texas, winning both women's and men's NCAA Championships the same year. Now, that would be some bragging time for Texas. A first in Texas. My cousin retired from the Army. His last station was Fort Bliss, TX. Located in El Paso, TX. I have also travelled through White Sands, New Mexico. A long time ago. I was rooting for coach K too. Coach Izzo of Michigan State rarely beats Duke. I think only twice, since Izzo took over as coach at Michigan State.

How do you know? I noticed it and I'm not even an official. I noticed it because the same thing happened to me in a game eons ago and I was called for the DD.
