New member. . . new lens
Hello All,
I joined uglyhedgehog a week or two ago. Since then I've been lurking. I shoot a Nikon D7100 camera. I found this group while researching Sigma 150-600mm lenses, which I have since bought and received last night. My previous longest lens was a Nikkor 75-300mm. I am so happy with how much more reach the Sigma has.
The picture of the heron was taken last night off my deck, probably 30 minutes after unpacking the lens, under less than optimal conditions. Overcast, getting close to sunset and a hundred yards or more away, but with all that and in addition not really knowing anything about this lens, I am very happy with the results.
I'm very glad to have landed here. It seems to be such a nice group.

I like it!! Good reflection too! Looks like a great lens. Maybe punch the Download button for us to see it better
Welcome Dave - Lens performance looks good - Light is in keeping for heron looking for supper. Peaceful!.
Even though it was an overcast day, you did get a nice shot of that bird. I'll bet you do get a nice variety of wildlife from your deck.
Nice picture, too bad the head was cut off in the reflection
I clicked the 'store original' button. I'm not sure what to do so that you can download. . . ???

I tried uploading a revised crop, showing the image with the head reflection but I wasn't successful. The head area of the reflection is so distorted by water movement, that I didn't think it added sufficient interest in comparison to what was lost by the smaller image of the bird itself.

We're nearing the anniversary of our first year here, and yes the variety of wildlife. . .primarily birds is wonderful.
Welcome to UHH. Good luck with your new lens.
