We often say a picture is worth a 1000 words----well, I'm updating the saying to a Photo is Worth 586 miles.

On Thursday I drove to norther Florida for a 2 day photo shoot. On Thursday evening while roaming the swamp I came across the Male Snowy Egret in his breeding plumage all dressed up for his night on the town looking for a lady. The last light of the day filtered through the trees and presented me this opportunity. I think this shot alone was worth the trip.

BTW--the bird ordered a set of 24 wallets sized prints to give to the ladies and a 4x6 print on metal print to hang in his tree.

Please enjoy the download!

A superb photo! The lighting and composition are excellent.
The texture of the egret’s plumage is amazingly sharp. Well done!

The backlight (rim lighting) was the only reason I stopped to take this shot. All I had to do was under expose just a bit to keep the shadows.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks. It is always about the light. The composition was easy---just remember the rule of thirds.

Thank you. These all white birds are so hard to capture with out burning out the feathers. This was the perfect light.

Thanks for commenting. I hope I got a few others shots too. But this one I really like.

Thanks for the compliment. As for being sharp----Nikon makes the great lens---the 200-400 f4 VR lens- you can al most shave with it!. Of course my tripod helps...
