Hello everybody. Tom from NYC here. I have an 6-7 year old Toshiba LCD TV 32E200U. I have a hearing loss and the sound will only go as high as 63-non higher. Toshiba tech refused to help and they don't seem to have a chat room. Can anyone help with this? Thank you

You can hook up a sound bar directly to tv (prices start below $100) or place a wireless speaker next to your chair. You may need a bluetooth transmitter for wireless speaker if tv is not bluetooth enabled. You will also need a home wifi in place.

You can buy amplifying head phones if you are sharing the tv with others. They have a mic to pick up the sound. Several people in my retirement community use them at meetings as well as to watch tv instead of getting expensive hearing aids

Huggins, If you have hearing loss, and I do, you are probably wearing hearing aids. Most aids have a "T" coil and if you'll add a 'Loop System' to your TV then you'll be able to hear and adjust the volume through your hearing aids and not blow everyone else out of the room. Private Message me is you'd like more information. It works for me. Norm

As long as your TV has an "Audio Out" jack on the back, you can get wireless headphones on which YOU control the volume. These are really great - and you will find that the sound clarity is so much better than with the TV that you will not even need to have the volume as loud as you think. I bought the Sony ones a few years ago because I wanted to have the TV louder than was comfortable for my wife. After using them for a while, she tried them, and found the sound clarity to be so much better than offered by the TV that she ordered a set!

Hi Huggins,
I have become very dependent on 'closed capiton' which is a great help. Does your Toshiba offer that option?

I use them and my wife loves them. She can keep the TV sound down.

I think this particular thread is for general chit chat. I see nothing restricting it to only photographic subjects.

I've gone though three set of TV ears. When they work , they are pretty good but they "last quick". I'm currently using Sony wireless headphones.
They have been reliable now for 3 months and the sound is great .

Thats also my experience with TV ears. They are uncomfortable when I use them.

So I bought a set of wired headphones and they work great but if I plug them into the TV they cut off the TV sounds so my wife can't hear the TV. I do use the headphones on my Mac for sound volume and clarity. Wonderful.
The best thing I discovered yesterday was I returned from a hearing appointment at Costco and while there he showed my that my I-phone has a sound broadcasting system built in. You just have to click the home button three times quickly and a new screen comes up showing a place to click on saying "Hearing Devices" and another saying "Magnifier"
When you do that it will show a place to click on saying 'Live Listen'. I then set my phone near the TV and I can go into another room and still hear the TV sound thru my hearing aids.

This system also has a volume control which you can change your hearing aid volume.
I'm assuming other phones have this same feature but it was totally new to me.
