No, they are dedicated direct mount lenses, no adapters.

Is it just me or has no one noticed that the prices are high for the average Joe?

It must be you. Where can you find fast, HQ lenses like these anywhere near these prices.

Sigma contemporary line is much cheaper and as fast, granted the Art series is a step above but at these prices the Panasonic full frame is way more expensive than the competition.

Panasonic S1 body($2500) + Sigma 28 ($1399) = $3899
Sony A7 III body ($1998) + Sigma 30 ($289) = $2287
Canon EOS RP ($1299) + Sigma 28 ($1399) = $2698

Now that's a great idea! Assuming they are top quality, they will be very popular and make choosing a lens much easier.

Clearly you have no idea of the differences between Art and Contemporary lenses from Sigma. Nor the differences between full frame and crop lenses from this post either.
Please keep buying the cheapest lenses you can find as they obviously satisfy your criteria and shooting style.

I learned today that the L-mount is a universal mount. That sounds to me like a great idea because having one of those cameras many other lenses from different manufacturers can be used.
It does not surprise me that Sigma jumped right in what indeed surprises me is that Leica has joined the team. For as long as I could remember Leica has been the elite camera and glass company when it comes to cameras and lenses and they reflect that quality in their prices which I have always thought are considerably overpriced. I know that many people are willing to pay those prices but I am not. Modern optical technologies are so sophisticated that it is very difficult today to buy a lemon. Case in point are Olympus lenses, some of the best and sharpest lenses I have ever used. I am sure many other brands offer excellent glass at prices that are very attractive and I am including independent lens companies like Tamron, Sigma and Tokina.
Who knows, the L-mount could be more and more available from other camera manufacturers.

If you think those Sigma prices are high, don't look up the Leica L-mount lenses... you'll have a heart attack! (Hint, 35mm f/2 Leica lens: $4500).

At least the lenses will be interchangeable between the new Panasonic full frame mirrorless, Leica mirrorless and an upcoming Sigma FF mirrorless camera.

These Sigma lenses are badly needed...

So far there are only three Panasonic L-mount (24-105, 50mm f/4 macro and a 70-200, if memory serves).

There are some 16 Leica L-mount lenses... Seven "SL" full frame capable and nine "TL" APS-C crop-only, since they are making mirrorless cameras in both mounts (some L-mount lenses are avail. in choice of black or silver finish, increasing the total count but not the selection of focal lengths). I'm sure these are very nice lenses, but, as already noted, tend to be pricey.

EDIT: L-mount is not a "universal mount" by any means. It's a patented Leica design. Sigma and Panasonic have a licensing agreement with Leica to be able to use it.

There's good chance that the Sigma lens prices will soften quite a bit after the initial introduction. That's been the case over the years with Sigma lenses in general. They often start out with a high price, but quickly drop to a much more affordable "street" price. For example, look at the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 DC (APS-C) offered in several DSLR mounts. It used to be one of the most expensive ultrawide zooms at $650... now it's one of the most affordable at $400.

Um, price the nearest Leica or Panasonic equivalent glass... These are great values.

The L mount is Leica technology they licensed to Panasonic and Sigma.

Leica and Panasonic work together on many products. Panasonic gets their optical expertise and Leica gets Panasonic electronic expertise.

I’m sorry but you have no idea what is my shooting style you’d be surprised the price I pay for my lenses , yes the contemporary is an APS-C I totally forgot but Sony has a f2 (I know it’s not f1.4) which is still much less expensive.
Do you really think professionals are going to invest in a Panasonic Sigma combination instead of buying a Canon Nikon or Sony, especially given the fact that the Panasonic is much more expensive only has contrast detection focus?
I think what Sigma is doing is great however the system is overpriced for what it is you cannot compare to Leica because it sets the price high but the market pays the price; I don’t know if Panasonic has the same reputation.

Contrast detect AF has a very different use case. It is more accurate and consistent on stationary subjects, while phase detect is better for action tracking.

As a 40+ year user of Canons and Nikons, I was skeptical when moving to Panasonic and Micro 4/3. But no more... My GH4 feels better in hand than my classic Nikon F3. It has endured rain, snow, and Carolina heat in late June, and never failed. It never overheats when recording video on 98F days. The native pro-grade lenses are worth their prices.

Nothing I photograph requires phase detect AF. Most of my work benefits from contrast detect AF (copy work, portraits, products, still life...) or manual focus (cinematic video... I’m NOT a blogger).

It’s great to see full frame mirrorless taking hold. It will be a while before it matures, since processors and sensors have a way to go before they can move 4X the data in the same time, while running cool. Give it 3-7 years... Or dive in and endure a few annoying things that early adopters encounter.

The good news: We have a variety of choices of feature sets.
