Clear skies becoming partially cloudy at 9:00 A.M. At least the weathermen know what's coming. This shot was taken directly over our house at 8:45 with the first spraying seen at about 8:00 A.M. Lens was 18mm on a C sensor camera. Please, no stupid replies. Sensible ones are appreciated.

What you refer to as "Spraying" is likely water produced during combustion of fuel in the airplane's engine and subsequently discharged as vapor through the exhaust then condensed when it cooled after leaving the exhaust. Condensation trails are commonly called "contrails"

Gee----Thanks for your info. I seemed to have missed that through my 70 year association with aviation and space flight. Reply score now stands at stupid 5, sensible 0. Do you really think that a contrail could be 20 miles in length, widen out and become wispy clouds? By the way, you failed to give me the average contrail length. It will usually be 2,000 to 3000 feet behind the aircraft which are 200 feet long, more or less. If you believe that the really long ones are from commercial flights, see if it appears every day at the same time and place in the sky.

Yes, I believe those are contrails. Having witnessed them for almost 80 years, starting with the jets that flew out of O'Hare during WWII.

Sorry to burst your bubble. There were no jets flying out of O'Hare during WW2 because there were no jets flying anywhere but at experimental facilities. That makes 7 stupid replies to my original post.

For a long time I have come to realize that government propaganda regarding the second law of thermodynamics, which is referred to as Entropy, has been the bullshit fertilizing the global warning lies.
