I hate shopping! But relatively recently (say ten years) I have become casually interested in storefronts and displays, principally for their artistic/design interest. When photographing, I try to avoid the mercenary, like cost/price aspects, though that's often not easy. And sometimes it might even be the main event? Same with reflections - but do they help or hinder? So what's upscale/downscale, tasteful/distasteful in your neck-o'-the-woods? What sparks aspirations or tickles your taste buds? Or what's just photographically interesting?

Do you like ancient or modern or do you have any comparisons of the same place over time? I don't have pairs, but for fun I sometimes compare my own old street images to those obtainable on Google Earth Streetview.

Most of my images date from a trip to Europe in 2010, and most of this first selection are from that collection.

So let's go shopping - but keep a tight hold on your wallet!

When my daughters went to Europe years ago I told them to take pictures of things that tourists don't take pictures of. Store fronts, the insides of the small shops, street signs, the police and other non tourist items.
You did a good job of doing the same things.

Thank you Say Cheese. I wonder how you found it - not supposed to be "up" for a few hours yet! You must be an "insider"?

I hope your daughters assembled a good collection. I have all those things, including a couple of nattily-dressed Italian police women. The only time I got in trouble was taking a photo of dosing guards at the Vatican Museum! They got quite intense about it, so I guess I did the Vatican a favour 'cos it sure woke them up.

I'm pretty sure all of my "window shopping" shots are from Scotland - here's one (also a selfie) from Stirling, 2012.
