f/8 stacked vs. f/18

I had a thought today to try my 300mm PF lens with some extension tubes. While setting up, eureka, I do own an AF-S lens. So I decided to test it out using my focus shift feature on the D850. So F/8 stacked vs. F/18. These photos are not cropped.

Your camera will take multiple shots to stack but you need separate software to stack images together.....

hmmmm....I like the top one better for contrast and color but the bottom one seems to have more DOF.

I’m guessing the top one is stacked and the reason it has slightly less DOF is because he just didn’t stack enough images.
