Kelby is bringing his The Ultimate Photography Crash Course to Minnesota in May. Cost $89. Has anyone attended this course elsewhere. What think? Price worth it? Sound off.

I cannot speak directly to this class. But I'll say that anytime I have set aside time to focus on a topic, whether photography or otherwise, the results have been beneficial to me. Even those times when the content wasn't the best, or even when wrong information was presented, the opportunity simply to focus on what was going on and critically evaluate what was said and demonstrated was helpful.

There was a presentation a year or so ago at our local club meeting around how one individual approached astrophotography. His approach was novel and used prety common equipment. That part was really good. But many of his explanations and descriptions showed that he had a pretty profound ignorance around the underlying astronomy. Overall, the presentation was good. But it was important to recognize and filter out the material that wasn't correct. In my mind, that is true of every class, even including the highly recognized ones. I attended a most excellent night sky workshop last summer. I recommend it highly. But the information shared around white balance was just fundamentally wrong. No problem. I just flagged it in my mind and did what my prior education told me was better.

Even "wrong" information can be helpful, once it is understood what is wrong and what would be a better choice. So at the worst, your $89 will allow you to have the time to concentrate on getting better at what you want to do. That's a pretty good value. I'll be watching to see what more specific answers you get.

My Amazon firestick has, in it's menu of offerings, a series of Kelby One lessons on photography. Unfortunately they were only available on a pay to view basis so I chose not pay and thus not watch but their "teasers" looked like the actual videos would be good and instructive.

A whole day of photography for $89.00. How can you go wrong? Be prepared to take notes because a lot of ideas fly by quickly and will become a resource for you later. Good luck.

I can't speak to this actual course, but have attended KelbyOne seminars in the past. I went for specific purpose based on the speaker and the subject matter. For the price, I felt they were worth the time and effort to attend and always got benefit from them. I also have done the PPA one day local for the same reason. You'll find you may know some things already, but will probably learn there's a lot to learn about this.

I think only you can decide if the specifics of the course will teach you something based on where you are on your photographic journey. As far as the format, I always found them to be well organized and the speakers insightful... Joe McNally, Ben Wilmore, Scott Kelby, etc.

Scott Kelby is an EXCELLENT teacher. I have been to 2 of his conferences and learned a lot from each one. It is well worth the price especially if you are new to photography. Plus you get to meet him and other enthusiasts like yourself between the meetings. He has plenty of resources available as well so you can find something specific to your photography needs. So yes I highly recommend it! 😀

YES! Best photography course you will ever take! I've been to his courses and actually have met him. I still practice a lot of what I learned in his course. I've bought all his books and still read them. GO!

I did a course like this with Hanson Fung....he surprised me to use 300mm lens for portrait and for full body shoots. The right background to fund was his important message.....I didn’t understood how he got to the right background. Kathleen James who shoots natural light (watched her webinar) this is when I find the missing pice from Hanson fung....

I have been to several Kelby courses. Not the one you mention, but I have attended his "Shoot Like A Pro" seminar and it was fantastic. He is a great speaker, well organized, entertaining, and you are getting a lot of info for $89. If the event follows the pattern of others I have attended, there will also be some vendors there and a presentation by someone selling some sort of software (it was ON1 at the ones I went to).

Go.

I have taken several Kelby classes and found all of them to be excellent. Good value for the money. Can't speak to this specific one but I wouldn't hesitate to take it.

I too think it's worth the time & money. Why not record it instead of notes...then you can really listen & observe the whole thing. There might even be hand outs you can take home. Let us know how it goes.
