It's just doing what every company is/has to be doing to stay competitive! That has nothing to do with PS, PS is PS and always be PS! No company can stay afload without doing market research!

Adobe is a big company which is more than Photoshop for sure. The three pillars of Adobe are the Creative Cloud, Document Cloud and Marketing Cloud.
Creative Cloud is where Photoshop and other apps live.
Document Cloud is forms/PDFs and e-Signatures (you probably use it when you sign up for a financial account or do government papers if you do them digitally).
The Marketing Cloud is used by thousands of companies to help them with their marketing. It isn't for Adobe to gather the information (but they do use their own products).
What I think is interesting is that they started out solving how to make printed fonts look good and have continually evolved and expanded. Their tools aren't perfect, but I use them and they both help me make money and they help me enjoy digital photography. Their openness to try new things is a good lesson, one that I should do more of myself.
