For sale: Canon EF 100-300mm f/5.6 L lens

For sale is my trusty Canon EF 100-300mm f/5.6 L lens. They are commonly offered for around $200 on eBay, but I am asking $180 for this one and will throw in for insured free shipping within CONUS. The lens is in very good condition with minor cosmetic markings, and it takes sharp images as expected from an ā€œLā€ lens. I would be happy to show people pictures taken with it. It is time to let it go since I own an Expensive Upgrade.

A metal tripod ring that fits the lens is also included. Mounting the lens on a tripod or monopod can be useful, but please note that the 100-300mm was never designed to take a tripod ring and so using it will change the minimal focal length to about 140mm. The lens also comes with both caps, original lens hood, and a Marumi 58mm MC UV lens filter.

The Canon 100-300mmm L is the most affordable ā€œLā€ series lens that Canon has ever made. I like an informed buyer who will know the features of this lens and so here are some reviews of it:

Interested people can PM me. I will take PayPal or personal check.

I purchased that very lens late last year and am quite pleased with the quality of the images it produces.

I also purchased one of these lenses from another UHH member a few months ago. He asked $150 for his but it didn't have the lens hood or tripod ring. I guess those items might be worth $30.
Nice lens but I don't care much for that sliding zoom feature. It would be good if there was some way of tightening it so it doesn't slide on its own.

There are easy ways to lock down the zoom. A rubber band, for example. It has never bothered me, personally.
