Library Software and Affinity

I am currently using Lightroom (classic) but would like to switch to something else since Adobe no longer supports Classic. I have been experimenting with Affinity and like it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have a library function (DAM). So, I am wondering if there is a reasonable Library program to use in conjunction with Affinity. In particular, I was wondering whether Apple Mac Photo would serve that purpose and whether it integrates well with Affinity. Of course, I'd interested in hearing about any software that fits the Library bill.

Adobe most certainly supports Lightroom Classic, you just have to subscribe. $9/month less than you spend on Coffee.

Adobe still "supports" older versions of Lightroom in various ways. They just stopped "updating" it. You can still buy 6.14 brand new. On a DVD even!

Adobe also gives away Bridge to anyone for free. Not the same as Lightroom, but it does a lot. You may have to have an account, but there will be no fees.

In the Bridge Preferences, I think you can set "File Type Associations" to open whatever you want, including Affinity.

This link may help you learn more about using Affinity with Apple Photos. Sounds like what you are wanting to do would work. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/58871-editing-in-ap-from-apple-photos/.

I don't have first hand experience with Affinity but have read good things about it, and Photos does a reasonable job of keeping up with your images. I used it years ago when it was iPhoto to manage my whole photo library, but once I switched to Lightroom, I moved everything there and that's where I currently intend for it to stay.

Lightroom Classic is certainly still available, though old versions are not upgraded. A current subscription ($10 a month) is required to keep it up to date, but you get Photoshop as well. So your choice depends on what you want, what you mean to do with it, and what your price point is.

As an alternative, myself being a dedicated Lightroom user, I find that Luminar3 is a good alternative. The new version has the file management (library) feature and it get better with every update. It may become a real competition for Lightroom. Very inexpensive for what it offers also.

Thanks, to all who responded. I should have pointed out that one of my reasons for leaving Lightroom is that I shoot with Fuji cameras and lenses now, and I don't like the way LR processes the xtran images. This seems to be a common complaint from Fuji users. So, $9 a month just doesn't get it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check Bridge.
