I bought:
the PS/Lightroom CC membership.
Affinity 2019
Aurora HDR 2019
PhotoscapeX
GIMP
Topaz Studios
Fotoworks XL 2019 ( to get my feet wet)
Inpixio free download

I do love software! And,because of a balance disorder,I can't get out to shoot as much as I want to,I can mess around with software and some old pics to get me re-started.

I thank everyone who kindly offered suggestions.

Yes - I know how you feel - I have Serif's PhotoPlus X8, SilkyPix SE, SmartEdit, PhotoFiltre7, XnView, and Faststone.
It may be just the way one handles straightening in a way I prefer - but my main Editor is PhotoPlus - for me there is no learning curve after several years use, so I resisted buying Affinity - although the trial was very impressive.

Why don't you forget all those and stick with the basics of the Adobe CC products. It has more than enough to get ALL the results you need and more. If you try to figure out too many different programs, you'll never master one. I know because I used to work for a computer store and all the software giants came to us and gave us free software and demos during our lunch breaks. They bought lunch too.

Serif's PhotoPlus was the fore-runner of Affinity. Both are fully fledged editors - many say are better than Adobe. It's not what you have - it's knowing it inside out that counts - be it software or gear. And I am a cash only guy (which is how I got my millions - ha ha).
PS - don't like Adobe, don't like Microsoft.

Yes, we do tend to accumulate software.

When someone asks about one of those software packages, you'll be the expert to reply.

Don’t disagree with any of the above. After Aperture disappeared, I started using LR/PS and plugins from DxO (NIK), Topaz and others. I’m fine with them but if I were making suggestions to someone yet to master LR/PC, I suggest giving ON1 (19.2) a look as easier to master and very, very close to LR/PS. I, too, do love software. πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Š

I have a feeling you're jumping in deep water. With that amount of software, it will be somewhat confusing.

A couple I can see. By the time you get through all of those, it'll be time for an upgrade or most likely a downgrade.

Maybe a younger mind can handle it! LoL

A little more confusion won't hurt! For instance. .I am reading the manual that came with my k70.I understand it pretty well .However, I cannot figure out how to attach the strap to the camera. Seriously...software doesn't faze me..and today I bought Photomatrix 6 for 7.98.Full version. After my friend attaches the strap,I will dive in head first to the software after taking some test photos.
Annie,addled!

Not necessarily, if one uses different software for different tasks, which is what I do. Every software has strengths and weaknesses, and once you figure out which does what best, you can put together a workflow system that takes advantage of the best each program offers. The only thing that gets tricky is memorizing the key shortcuts for each program, but reassigning them to match up (whenever possible) will facilitate this aspect too.
