It's been over a year since my last track meet. I must admit I am a little rusty. The sun was playing tricks on me, but managed some decent pics. Enjoy and comments if you want.
D500
80-400 4.5-5.6
Auto white balance & auto iso
Shutter priority, group focus - a/c focus bbf.

Nice pics

Here in northern VT, we are still about a month away from T&F season. In fact, as I sit here with morning coffee, we have 3 fresh inches of snow down and still coming. Sigh....

I pretty much always shoot outside with shutter priority. It just seems to work better for me and the camera settings. I shoot volleyball and basketball in manual. The settings for these two sports are set once and stay set in the gym. The light never changes. Just me I guess.

I have been relying more and more on AUTO ISO recently. I normally shoot wide open and also set a minimum shutter speed along with a MAX ISO. I will also soot wide open, select a shutter speed, and let AUTO ISO do its job. Nikon shooter. Have been pretty happy. Best of luck.

I rely on auto iso too. Good advice Chris.

And for nighttime HS football you use manual with lens wide open ? 1/2000, 1/1000 ?

I use a Nikon 400/2.8E FL, wide open, 1/1000th, auto ISO. Sometimes I'll use a slightly slower speed to keep the ISO in check. D5. Best of luck
