Springtime in Death Valley is footprint season. After trying to remove all the distractions from this image, I decided to go for a painterly look using Topaz Impression and the Cezanne presets.
Works for me. The squiggles seem suggestive of wind-blown sand patterns. The curves and the color contrasts are very eye-catching. There's a nice sense of depth with the differing sized plants. Thanks for posting, R!
I think it’s a lovely image. The painted look works well with the pastel colors and minimalist landscape.
The patterns/textures, colors, and shapes of the dunes are quite rich--unity with variety! The rest, however, could use some work to be brought into the scene in terms of arrangement (although the perspective is good), color, and detail. (there also seems to be a little overlap of background/foreground in the far dune).
I like the picture and the processing of this, it all works very well for me - with the exception of the water (?), which I find a distraction. I’d remove it and make it all about dunes and foliage. Lovely colours too.
I like it. If Cezanne had ever traveled to Death Valley, I suspect there would be one like this hanging in an art gallery somewhere.
What footprints?
All removed, well done!
Nicely managed to get a creative version. I know what you mean about the footprints! I was fortunate enough to experience a major wind storm my last night there, so got one fresh clean-swept morning. But the rest of the time, the footprints were everywhere.
I'm wondering about a thread focused on sharing of images we were dissatisfied with in their original form, but managed to create something that pleased us nonetheless. I bet most of us have some of these kinds of things in our collections and maybe even on our walls.
I like the overall effect!
