Because of good weather reports, I spent last Friday in the Cajon Pass working on my project. Here is a sample of what I photographed.

Very nice series. I like #2.
Very nice set.
The two sides of the San Andres fault are moving in opposite directions. Some of it moves up to 3-4” per year, other parts not as much. I would think that is a problem for tracks. What kind of maintanence does the railroad have to do to maintain the tracks in that area?

I don't know if they do anything special at Blue Cut, however every time I go to the Cajon Pass BNSF is always doing some kind of maintenance along their right of way. You always see track inspection and repair equipment in the pass and I always see one or two pickup trucks riding the rails. UP does not seem to be as intensive in their activities, but UP has only one main line whereas BNSF has three to maintain. Operationally, you often see UP trains on the BNSF tracks.
