Hello
I am practicing for my first city night shot. Here are the coordinates for google maps:
39.947228, -75.187457
It's the first time I'll be using long exposures outside of practicing at home.
The camera is a Nikon Z6 with 24-70 F4 Lens.
What would be good starter settings?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.
Thanks,
Jim

It can vary all over the place.
If you are shooting a 'scape in the 'blue hour", and using a tripod (and a remote release) I would start with 10 seconds @ f11 and ISO 100.
See how that goes, by checking the histogram, and adjust accordingly.

If you are shooting hand held by street lights I would start at 1/20 @ f/4 (wide open) and ISO 1600 and see how that goes.
You may need to use image stabilisation.

Shoot raw - it will give you more options when post processing.
Use a lens hood and remove any uneeded filters from your lens.
Take a flashlight (torch), it may help when setting up your camera.
Keep safe.

With your permission I can post some examples.

Look closely at Richard's third pic to find the ghost-like pedestrians (motion shows because of slower shutter speed). You may already know this, but if not, take into consideration and use to your advantage. You can get some very creative results.

A good idea might be to start with auto settings just to see what the camera thinks, and then adjust it to the your own liking...

Exposures will be entirely based on the lighting and your intent. Here are a few samples of NYC skyline at night. Philadelphia may be, and probably is, different.

Cryptic? You do realize I posted the coordinates of where I was planning to shoot?
I'll assume you don't know how to use the coordinates.
Just open google maps and paste the coordinates in the find box. A map with the spot will show.
On the screen there should be a link to view the spot at street level.

Here's a link with the instructions.

Click on "Choose File" at the bottom left, under the text box.
Find the picture want on your computer, and click on that to open it.
Click on "Add Attachment", to the right of the "Add..." button.

Then click on "Send" to post it. I think you must also enter a word or two in the text box.
