Just in case you misjudge the tides.
A scary thought, and a compelling photo.

A few hours stuck in there would help focus your mind on the problem of rising sea levels
Very nice! Excellent composition and processing, Graham. This is a photo I would never tire of viewing.
I have been stirred to googling by your postings on the Holy Island causeway. Unfortunate for you, they had gotten around to draping the caution tape. It seems the tide fluctuates as much as 20 feet there. There are several local roads nearby where I live which are water covered as a normal occurrence during the higher tides, when there is a fluctuation of ten or eleven feet. By contrast Mont-Saint-Michel get as much as a 45 ft. variation. As an eight year old, I stood out in the sand flats during low tide with the water so far out I couldn't even see it, trying to imagine being inundated by water. Stimulating photos Graham, and finely done as always. I found this photo that I don't think you would mind my pasting in here.

Of course, I don't mind. Just as a matter of interest the Bay of Fundy, in Canada has been recorded at 56 ft.
The highest in the UK is in the Bristol channel at 49 ft.

About the tape. I very much photograph "as is". I don't search for pristine, perfect subjects and scenes. The hand of man has touched virtually all of the land in the UK. I chose to leave the tape, not to clone it out.
You could call me a "warts and all photographer"

Yes, of course I included the Bay of Fundy in my googlings. Had to refresh my memory of the benchmark. There is another location in Canada that is apparently in close contention called Leaf Bay, Nunavut.
Anybody notice how perfectly composed this is, with the swath of green sitting just at 1/3 up in the photo and the causeway entering the photo from left to center?
